New E-birth Certificate 'fishy' According To Mama Kandeh
~0.6 mins read
Leader of the Gambia Moral Congress (GDC) party, Mama Kandeh, has said the Ministry of Health should do more clarifications on the making of the new e-birth certificate as he believes the process to be “fishy”.

“It is good to introduce a digitalisation system but how the ministry is carrying out the process is fishy, that is why I am calling on them for more clarification on the processes of the new birth certificate.”

This follows a pattern where the government is not transparent with the public and as a result people start speculating. A simple solution would have been to create a short video, highlighting why it is beneficial to attain the new e-birth certificates. They can air the short video on GRTS so there is no confusion. Creative thinking is severely lacking in our institutions which is why information from the top rarely travels to the bottom in tact.

My Wonder Goal Came From Extra Training Aribo
~2.8 mins read
Ranger send midfielder has revealed his wonder goal against Dundee United in Sunday’s Scottish Premiership game came as a result of extra training sessions.

The 24-year-old was a delight to watch in the encounter, dictating the pace and marshalling the midfield to help his side secure a 4-1 victory over the Terrors.

The Nigeria international scored a breathtaking goal in the game, firing a left-footed strike beyond the reach of goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist and was deservedly handed the man-of-the-match award.

The midfielder has now scored seven goals this season and provided four assists in 29 appearances and hopes to finish the campaign impressively.

“I probably haven’t hit a shot with as much power,” Aribo told Rangers TV after the game.

“Everyone in training says I just like to finesse and curl it but I’ve been practising so I just thought I would put my laces through it and thankfully it went in.

“The boys are buzzing, we knew it wasn’t going to be an easy game. We had to start fast and give all we could in the game to get a foothold and just keep going throughout the whole 90 minutes.

“I just want to finish the season strong, keep pushing, keep going and giving all that I can and I am happy that I’m getting positive results.”

Rangers will take on Belgian side Royal Antwerp in their second leg Round of 32 clash in the Europa League on Thursday, having won the first leg 4-3

“It’s a big game and it’s knockout football. We know what we have to do and we just have to focus, get ready, dust ourselves off and move on to that,” Aribo added.

Aribo has also been praised by Rangers manager Steven Gerrard for his versatility and commanding display against Dundee United, describing him as a “boss kid”

“For me, good players can do whatever you ask them to do. The good thing for Joe is he can be effective as a right 10 or a left 10, of course he can because he’s closer to the goal,” Gerrard told Rangers TV.

“If you ask Joe, he’ll probably want to be closer to the goal. But when we’re at home, playing him as a left eight or a right eight it gives us that bit of ambition in the team rather than having the three number sixes and we know he can burst from deep and it gives us the chance to get Hagi and [Ryan] Kent in the team as well and maybe other people for different games as well.

“Honest to God, I can’t speak highly enough of the kid. He’s a boss kid and he wants to improve. We’re delighted to have him. He decided to come here and develop and grow and he’s moving in the right direction.

“He’s low maintenance, everything he’s putting into it, it’s no surprise he’s getting a lot of good performances in his game now.” Goal.

COVID-19: NCDC Raises Alarm As Traveller Imports Deadly Delta Variant Into Nigeria
~2.1 mins read
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), a deadly variant of the COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2 Delta, has been detected in the country.
The NCDC in a statement released by its head of communications, Yahya Disu, on Thursday, July 8, said the variant was diagnosed during genomic sequencing at the NCDC National Reference Laboratory, AbujaPunch reports.

Disu in the statement said the high transmissibility of the variant poses a serious global risk.
He stated:

The NCDC spokesman, however, said that the centre is embarking on studies aimed at ascertaining the impact of the variant on available vaccines, Channels TV also reported.
Disu added that as part of its response to the disease, "NCDC has been working with the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, African Centre for Genomics of Infectious Diseases, and other laboratories within the national network, to carry out genomic sequencing."

COVID-19: FG debunks vaccine magnetic conspiracy theory

Meanwhile, the federal government had debunked the claim that people who received the coronavirus vaccine could generate some form of a magnetic field in the vaccination site or also light up an electric bulb.
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency's (NPHCDA) executive director, Faisal Shuaib, said some anti-vaccination individuals came up with the magnetic conspiracy theory.

According to him, the conspiracy theorists aim to deceive people with their videos and claims. Shuaib said this at the NPHCDA weekly press briefing attended by Legit.ng reporter on Tuesday, July 6, in Abuja.
