CBN Warns Nigerians Against Spraying Of Naira Notes

The central bank of Nigeria, CBN, has warned Nigerians towards spraying the Naira notes in parties and different events.



The CBN spokesman, Isaac Okorafor, who made this known on Thursday in a statement, stated defaulters might be jailed for now not less than six months and could accept the choice of a N50,000 fine.



in step with the spokesman, the CBN has concluded the decision to establish mobile courts to prosecute those abusing the Naira notes.



He stated that the security agencies particularly the police operatives would be involved in tracking the Naira users and make sure that the order is enforced across the country.



"If a celebrant is dancing and you spray him/her, you could go to prison from the celebration venue, due to the fact the regulation enforcement agents might be there, ready to arrest you.



"The law enforcement agencies ought to capture offenders and take them to court.

Our (CBN) collaboration with the police will accentuate as we move to put into effect the mobile court for offenders," Mr Okorafor stated in a statement on Thursday.



The CBN spokesman entreated Nigerians to make sure that monies being gifted to their loved ones either in an event or not are well enveloped to keep away from abusing the note.
