The Spirit of God proclaims saying, to whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare to Him? The workman molds an image,the goldsmith overspreads it with gold,and the silversmith casts silver chains. Whoever is too impoverished for such a contribution chooses a tree that will not rot;He seeks for himself a skillful workman to prepare a carved image that will not totter.

He says,will a man make gods for himself,which are not gods?;

To whom will you liken Me,and make Me equal and compare Me,that we should be alike? They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver on the scales;they hire a goldsmith and makes it a god;they prostrate themselves, yes ,they worship.they bear it on the shoulder, they carry it and set it in its place and it stands;from its place it shall not move.though one cries out to it,yet it cannot answer nor save him out his trouble.

They sacrifices to demons,not to God,to gods they did not know,to new gods,new arrivals that your father did not fear.of the Rock who begot you,you are unmindful,and have forgotten the God who fathered you. For the lord is great and greatly to be praised;He is to be feared above all gods.for all the gods of the peoples are idols,but the Lord made the heavens.

He says,let all be put yo shame who carved images,who boast of idols.worship Him,all you gods; Assemble yourself and come; draw near together you who have escaped from the nations. They have no knowledge who carry the wood of their carved image ,and pray to a god that cannot save.

Why should the Gentiles say, "where is their God?". But our God is in heaven;He does whatever He pleases. Their idols are silver and gold,they work of men's hands,they have mouths,but they do not speak; eyes they have,but they do not see;they have ears,but they do not hear;Noses they have,but they do not smell; they have hands,but they do not handle;feet they have,but they do not walk;nor do they mutter through their throat.those who make them are like them;so is everyone who trusts in them.

The Spirit declares saying,those who make an image,all of them are useless.and their precious things shall not profit;they are their own witnesses;they neither see nor know,that they may be ashamed. 

Who would form a god or mold an image that profits him nothing?, surely all his companions shall be ashamed; and the workmen,they are men.let them be gathered together,let them stand up ;yet they shall fear,they shall be ashamed together.

The blacksmith with the tongs works one in the coals,fashions it with hammers,and works it with the strength of his arms.even so,he is hungry ,and his strength fails;He drinks no water and is faint.

The craftsman stretches out his rule,he marks one out with chalk;He fashions it with a plane,He marks it like the figure of a man,according to the beauty of a man,that it may remains in the house.

He cuts down cedars for himself,and takes the cypress and the oak;He secures it for himself among the trees of the forest.He plants a pine,and the rain nourishes it.

Then it shall be for a man to burn,for he will take some of it and warm himself;yes,he kindles it and bakes bread; indeed he makes a god and worships it;He makes it a carved image,and falls down to it.

He burns half of it in the fire;with this half he eats meat;He roasts a roast,and is satisfied. He even warm himself and says,"Ah ! I am warm,I have seen the fire"

And the rest of it he makes into a god, His carved image.He falls down before it and worships it,prays to it and says,"deliver me,for you are my god".

They do not know nor understand;for He has shut their eyes ,so that they cannot see,and their hearts,so that they cannot understand.

And no one considers in his heart,nor is there knowledge nor understanding to say, "I have burned half of it in the fire,yes ,I have also baked bread on its coals;I have roasted meat and eaten it;and shall I make the rest of it an abomination? Shall I fall down before a block of wood?

He feeds on ashes;A deceived heart has turned him aside ;and he cannot deliver his soul,nor say " is there not a lie in my right hand?"

He says,but they are altogether dull-hearted and foolish;A wooden idol is worthless doctrine.

Silver is beaten into plates;it is brought from tarshish and gold from uphaz,the work of the craftman and of the hands of the metalsmith;Blue and purple are their clothing;they are work of skillful men.but the lord is the true God;He is the living God and everlasting King,at His wrath the earth will tremble,and nations will not be able to endure His indignation.

Thus you shall say to them ,"the gods that have not made the heavens and the earth shall perish from the earth and from under these heavens" 

Every one is dull-hearted ,without knowledge; every metalsmith is put to shame by an image ;for his molded image is falsehood,and there is no breath in them.they are futile, a work of errors;in the time of their punishment they shall perish.

The Portion of Jacob is not like them, For He is the maker of all things,and Israel is the tribe of His inheritance; the Lord of hosts is His name.

Thus the makers of idols have traded their gods through out the whole land and were not not ashamed of their abomination but instead they desire to preserve their reputation of sin that the works of iniquity and ungodliness may prosper and thus also they hindered those who approaches the light, the way and the truth for salvation but fear shall come upon them suddenly;for a certain man named Demetrius ,a silversmith,who made silver shrines of Diana,brought no small profit to the craftsmen.He called them together with the workers of similar occupation and said: "Men ,you know that we have our prosperity by this trade " moreover you see and hear that not only at Ephesus, but throughout almost all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people ,saying that they are not gods which are made with hands.so not only is this trade of ours in danger of falling into disrepute, but also the temple of the great goddess Diana may be despised and her magnificence destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worship" thus they acted on their folly because they never know the true God and until He was made manifested,they stumble and were ashamed.

To the makers of idols the Spirit says "they shall be ashamed and also be disgraced,all of them ;they shall go in confusion together,who are makers of idols"

To those who who follows them He says "their sorrows shall multiplied who hasten after another god:their drink offering of blood I will not offer ,nor take up their names on my lips"

And the Spirit declares "when you out,let your collections of idols deliver you,but the wind will carry them all away ,a breath will take them ,but he who puts his trust in Me shall possesses the land,and shall inherit My holy mountain"

All idol worshippers shall put to shame in the day of the lord as the Spirit says" in that day a man will cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold,which they made,each for himself to worship,to the moles and bats ,to go into the clefts of the rocks,from the terror of the Lord,and the glory of His Majesty, when He arises to shake the earth mightily "

Return to Him against whom the children of Israel have deeply revolte.for in that day every man shall throw away his idols of silver and his idols of gold-----Sin,which your own hand have made for yourselves.

"Therefore thus say to the house of Israel," thus says the lord God: "Repent,turn away from your idols,and turn your faces away from all your abomination".

Finally the Spirit says" Blessed are those who do His commandments,that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and IDOLATERS,and whoever loves and practices a lie"
