The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will, today, commence the distribution of the New Naira notes to its bank branches, as reported by Vanguard.

Mr.

Bello Umar, the Director of Currency Operations, made the statement in Abuja, during the Post-Monetary Policy Committee press briefing.

He said, “From Thursday, we will start distribution to CBN branches across the country.

So that whenever we are set to launch the new notes, maybe at a later date, we already have the notes across the country.”

It was reported that the new naira notes are expected to be in circulation as from 15 December, and will be circulate side-by-side with the old notes until next year, 31 January, 2023, when the latter would cease to be legal tender.
