Mr Daniel Bwala, the spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign, has said that Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, misinterpreted the statement made by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the party, because he watching football match between Real Madrid and Barcelona over the weekend.
 
It was recently reported by Daily Trust that the PDP presidential candidate had said that the northerners want someone of northern extraction and not a Igbo or Yoruba president.
 
Governor Wike, who said that he found the comment made by Atiku hard to believe, said if true, the PDP leadership need to make an apology to Nigerians.
 
However, while reacting to Wike's statement, the spokesman of the PDP presidential campaign said “When that comment was made by Atiku, I’m very sure that the Rivers state governor was watching Barcelona vs Real Madrid.

And despite the fact that his team, Real Madrid won the match, that does not mean what he said was right.
 
“First of all, if the governor is looking an apology, I suppose he (Wike) need to apologize to the People Democratic Party, PDP," Bwala said.
