This was not all they discussed; students in final classes of schools have been told to resume with exception of final year students of university; artisans and hairdressers are allowed to operate, funerals and weddings are allowed (20 people maximum), intensive revision exercise should be given to those that resumed, domestic flight to resume and many others but what is affecting the total reopening of schools? Even when there is extension of the easer lockdown by four weeks, shouldn't students be eased by their resumption, even if it's only for three weeks? When should they expect total resumption?
If Nigerians should follow and rely on the update given by the Ministry of Education about if interstate travelling ban was lifted, students will resume, schools will soon be resumed fully. This was stated by the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba on June 10, 2020 during a meeting with the Presidential Task Force (PTF).
We should not forget that he also emphasized that the Ministry is concerned with students' health as well as making them reach standards of students outside the country. School might not resume fully if they follow the last statement.

The Government knows what they have as schools, they know how well they can't control and implement many measures. Most universities, institutions and other schools are filled with more students it can occupy. Lecture theatres that should contain 1200 are being ravaged by almost 2000+ students. Secondary and Primary schools are no exceptions, classes are overpopulated. If the Federal Government allows all students to resume, the world will question Nigeria.

Although the increment of the numbers of infected is suspicious, they wouldn't want to put in schools as an excuse for the increase. They collect money as the numbers increases and this could be recorded as a reason for the reopening of markets, domestic airports, and many others. If schools and religious places are allowed, questions will be raised about why they did. We should also remember our safety rules are weak as at other countries like England, our colonizer which only take fifteen students per class and give different students time to study.
Nigeria is being ruled by democracy. Our elected leaders will decide what will happen, no matter our shouts. Schools might resume soon but with the look of things, there is more probability they wouldn't. Even if they do, the number may rise to like one million which might invite many international agency and we might embark on a more tedious lockdown again.
ASUU isn't giving in for universities under them. Whether school resumes or not, these schools may still not resume. We should just pray God should do the best for us and we should try to learn a skill during this breakdown.
It should be noted, that the federal government hasn't specifically given a date for commencement of school resumption, but they only said, within the space of extension of eased lock down, “safe reopening of schools will be considered ”
In my own opinion, I will urge the federal government to reopen schools by July 15th, and allow student continue with their individual school activities.
Kindly drop your opinion below, do you also support this? Should schools reopen by July 13th amid this covid-19 pandemic?
