RATE OF HEARTBEAT
The heartbeat is an involuntary action. The rate of heartbeat is always adjusted to suit the needs of the body under various conditions. The rate is dependent on factors such as the state of the body; whether fear or calm, active or at rest, age, size of a person, etc. The contraction of the heart is called systole while the relaxation is called diastole.
For adults 18 and older, a normal resting heart rate is between 60 and 100 beats per minute (bpm), depending on the person's physical condition and age. For children ages 6 to 15, the normal resting heart rate is between 70 and 100 bpm.
