Sead Kolasinac's move away from Arsenal is closer than first thought with Schalke now closing in on doing a deal for the Gunners' defender, Bild claim.
Kolasinac has been made available for transfer by Mikel Arteta after being deemed surplus to requirements and it could be that the Arsenal man's move is confirmed sooner rather than later.
Kolasinac is said to be willing to take a pay cut to leave Arsenal, although he does want to be Schalke's captain if he is to move.
The Bosnian defender, who was once labelled as 'outstanding' by Arsene Wenger in the London Evening Standard, currently appears likely to move away on loan, which will be made permanent at the end of next season.
Kolasinac's move from Arsenal is unlikely to upset too many supporters.
While his leadership qualities and combativeness have been praised at times, he has not quite shown the quality required to be a permanent starter.
Marc Atkins/Getty ImagesArteta seems to have turned away from Kolasinac, with Kieran Tierney very much his first choice at left-back, and Bukayo Saka also able to play there.
And with Arsenal looking to raise funds, offloading Kolasinac makes a lot of sense for the North London club.
