A Spanish court has ruled that Brazilian International, Neymar should pay €6.7m to his former club,  Barcelona.

The former Santos forward who left Barcelona in the summer of 2017, claimed the Spanish side owed him €43.6m in loyalty bonuses.

Neymar can appeal against the decision after a judge ruled in favour of the Spanish side.

The Catalan side said they "welcomed" the verdict and would "continue to firmly defend its legitimate interests".

The 28 year-old also lodged a complaint to world football governing body, Fifa after he claimed Barcelona refused to pay him following his €222m euros (£200m) move to Paris Saint Germain in 2017.

Barcelona also took legal proceedings and demanded that Neymar pay back the £8m he received when he signed a new contract with them in 2016.

No action was taken by Fifa after it  said it would leave the case to the courts.
