What's One Thing You Noticed About The Harry Potter Universe That No One Has Noticed?
~2.8 mins read
Sybill Trelawney is actually an extremely interesting, complex, and important character. First of all, many of her seemingly radical predictions that sounded made-up in a second were actually true. For example….

Then you should know, Potter, that Sybill Trelawney has predicted the death of one student a year since she arrived at this school. None of them has died yet.

—Minerva McGonagall, Prisoner of Azkaban

While it seems ridiculous, if we look further into the future it may actually be true. In the Battle of Hogwarts, 52 died. Many were students, or former students that were taught by Professor Trelawney.

Is it too far fetched to believe that none of them were part of Trelawney’s predictions?

Again in Book 3, Trelawney turned down Dumbledore’s offering of a seat at the Christmas table, crying,

I dare not, Headmaster! If I join the table, we shall be thirteen! Nothing could be more unlucky! Never forget that when thirteen dine together, the first to rise will be the first to die.

According to her there were 12 people there and if she was seated there would be 13. However… Ron had Scabbers… or Pettigrew in his pocket. Making the number already 13! And the first to rise from that table was Dumbledore, who died first in the group. Definitely not a coincidence.

But that wasn’t the only way she predicted Dumbledore’s death. In The Half-Blood Prince, she stated:

The lightning-struck tower… calamity. Disaster. Coming closer all the time.

She was reading the signs from a pack of cards. Little did Harry know that disaster would strike, on the lightning-struck tower itself.

If you are still not convinced…

Remember how Harry had a piece of Voldemort in him? Well, Trelawney predicted Harry’s birthday to be in Midwinter, which was incorrect as Potter was born in July. She described him as dark-haired, mean stature, and having terrible losses early in life.

All of those things apply to Voldemort. Trelawney could sense the Voldemort inside Harry.

Creepy, right?

And not to mention her iconic line that one of us will leave us forever. That was Hermione.

But that is not the only interesting thing about her.

Many people also underestimate her importance in the story.

I don’t know how prophecies work in Harry Potter, but from what I know from other universes, things won’t happen if the prophet does not predict it.

Maybe I’m wrong, maybe it happens either way, maybe I have no idea what I’m talking about, but Trelawney could’ve been the reason why the Wizarding World wasn’t enslaved by Voldemort.

After all if my theory is correct, then if she never made the prophecy, Voldemort would never have hunted Harry. And if he never hunted Harry his power— would have never—been broken—

One more thing before you go. Sybill Trelawney was likely inspired by the ancient Greek myth of Cassandra. Cassandra was a seer who was cursed to utter true prophecies that no one would ever believe. Sounds a lot like our favorite professor, am I right?

Oh, and the word sybyl means oracle, which is basically a prophet in Ancient Greek. Notice how Trelawney’s first name is Sybill. Also, Sybill Trelawney’s great-great-grandmother’s name was Cassandra Trelawney. Which pretty much proves my point.

If you found this interesting, you’re welcome!

Edit: This is my first ever answer with 1,000 upvotes. I cannot express how deeply honored and excited I am. Thank you for upvoting and reading! Thank you!

What Actor Or Actress Plays Ditsy Or Low IQ Parts But In Reality They Have A High IQ?
~0.4 mins read
After receiving his masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oxford, Rowan Atkinson then went on to show how talented he was at acting by portraying one of the most iconic characters of all time: Mr Bean.

He was so persuadable that many people genuinely believable Rowan himself suffered from a mental condition. However he later proved everybody wrong when he took an IQ test and received 178, which you are then considered as a super genius and in top 0.1% of the population in the world. It’s also smarter than Einstein.
