THE MISSED CHANCE Part 2
~2.2 mins read
The brown content stained both my shirt and singlet and I was dripping wet. She hissed and went inside, I was dumbfounded and angry, why is all this happening to me? I got up and changed as fast as possible, it was now 8:05, I wore a blue shirt and black trouser, rushing out of the house in anger, I spotted a cab and quickly I hopped in. when we got half way, the cab had a flat tyre, I came out to get a bike but it was a bit difficult, it was like they had all gone on break. I was confused and frustrated, I didn’t know what else to do, by now it was already 8:15.
Finally, the driver was done fixing his flat tyre, I got in and prayed the interview is not yet over. I arrived at the organization at about 8:30, I was directed to the hall of the interview. On getting there I saw Mr. Felix shaking hands with a man, his face was familiar and I recognized him to be one of the persons who was asked to come today for the interview, the other two persons also gave him a hand shake saying “congratulation”. My heart began to race, my hands were sweaty, I walked towards Mr. Felix and greeted him, he looked at me and shook his head.
“Where were you? Your name was called first, I told you to be here early, we don’t condone late coming here, we started at 8:00 on the dot and your name was called repeatedly, this is serious business Mr. Kolawole or do you think we are joking here?”
“I’m very sorry sir, I had some issues I needed to settle”
“Well you are too late, Mr. Adejoh got the job, I’m sorry, there was nothing I could do, you were not even present, you blew your chance, you missed it”
Those words hit me like a bomb, I rested on the pillar for support as he walked past me, I tried to hold back my tears as I walked out of the hall with my file in hand, I felt like my world was going to end, I had a job on a platter and it went just like that, that job could have been mine, I’m supposed to be rejoicing and put my wife to shame and not here mourning my lost job.
The sound of my alarm brought me back to the present and I struggled to find my phone in the darkness of the room.
“Put off that thing abeg, it’s disturbing me” Christy said annoyed by the sound of the alarm. I managed to find it and I got up after putting off the alarm. I had my bath and was getting dressed when she spoke again.
“Where are you off to this early morning?”
“It is none of your business”
The event that just played in my head made me angry, I ignored the rest of her words before she went back to sleep. I took my file and left the house with the expectation that this time I would get the job.

We Are The Lucky Ones
~0.6 mins read
We are the lucky ones
The remnants of our polluted universe.
We are the villagers.
The ones who are now describe as privileged.

We are the lucky ones.
The offsprings of the mighty one,
We are the disgraced,
The ones who have now experience Grace.

We are the lucky ones.
The victim of unfavorable condition,
We are the famished,
The ones now nourished.

We are the lucky ones.
The survival of explosion,
We are the slaves,
The ones whose enemy have been slayed.

We are the lucky ones.
The evidence of hope,
We are the lamed,
The ones who miracle has claimed.
