Court: Ordered Trump's Arrested
~1.4 mins read
A Baghdad court has issued a warrant for the arrest of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, as part of its investigation into the killing of a top Iraqi paramilitary commander, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis.

Al-Muhandis, who was the Deputy Head of Iraq’s largely pro-Iran Hashed al-Shaabi paramilitary network, was killed in the same US drone strike that took out Iranian general Qasem Soleimani at Baghdad airport on January 3 last year.

Trump, who ordered the strike, subsequently boasted that it had taken out “two (men) for the price of one”.

The UN special rapporteur for an extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, Agnes Callamard, has called the twin killings as “arbitrary” and “illegal”.

Iran already issued a warrant for the arrest of Trump in June and asked Interpol to relay it as a so-called red notice to other police forces around the world.

The court for east Baghdad has now issued the warrant for Trump’s arrest under Article 406 of the penal code, which provides for the death penalty in all cases of premeditated murder, the judiciary said.

The court said the preliminary inquiry had been completed but “investigations are continuing to unmask the other culprits in this crime, be they Iraqis or foreigners.”

Meanwhile, some members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet on Wednesday opened discussion on the possibility of removing Trump from office after his supporters stormed the Capitol, according to reports by three US news channels.

The discussions focused on the 25th amendment to the US Constitution, which allows for a president’s removal by the vice president and cabinet if he is judged “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”

Invoking it would require Vice President Michael Pence to lead the cabinet in a vote on removing him.

CNN quoted unnamed Republican leaders saying the 25th amendment had been discussed, saying they had described Trump as “out of control.

~1.7 mins read

The Ondo State Police Command on Tuesday said it had arrested a man identified as Wasiu Mamukuyomi for allegedly conniving with his girlfriend, Temitope Adeniyi, to abduct his three-month-old baby at Oke Bola Area of Ondo town, Ondo State.

The command, however, said Temitope had been arrested with the baby, after absconding for three days of.

According to the mother of the abducted baby ( Mamukuyomi’s wife ), Mrs Stella Babatunde, the abductor was introduced to her by her husband to be trained in tailoring but did not know that she was her husband’s girlfriend.

She alleged that her husband lied to her that the lady was his friend’s wife, which she later discovered to be untrue.

Stella said, “My husband brought the lady (Temitope) to me on December 3, 2020, to train her in tailoring but I later noticed that the lady and my husband usually communicate on the phone whenever we were together in the shop.

“On Saturday, January 2, 2021, the lady came to the shop as usual. After bathing my baby girl that afternoon, she took permission from me to put the baby on her back. I later gave her my ATM card to help me withdraw N3,000 that was transferred to my account by a customer at a nearby POS stand.

“She never returned as she escaped with the newborn baby and my ATM card. After some hours that she did not return with my baby, I put calls across to my husband several times to inform him about the incident, but my husband refused to pick my calls.

“When my husband came back from work, he did not show any concern over the missing baby. It was at that point we invited the police to arrest him. He was later taken to Ẹnuọwa Police Station in Ondo where he confessed that the lady in question was his girlfriend.

“He also confessed that he was the one who rented an apartment for the lady at the Eweje Area of Yaba, Ondo, but denied knowing anything about the abduction of the child.”
