He Turned Up Overweight And Hes Paid For It Former Chelsea Star Slams Eden Hazard
~1.7 mins read
Eden Hazard has been accused of not taking his £103 million transfer to Real Madrid "seriously."
The Belgian arrived from Chelsea last summer and he is regarded as one of the best wingers in the world.
But he's failed to show it in Spain and has only registered one goal for his new club.
Former Blues striker Tony Cascarino laid into the 29-year-old following a poor performance against Manchester City in the Champions League.
He told talkSPORT : "We all know how brilliant Hazard can be, we all know the difference he can make to a football team.
"But he didn't take the move to Madrid seriously, and he's paid for it this season.
"He turned up overweight, he's been playing catch-up, he's getting niggly injuries. Watching him last night was like watching a completely different player.
"Kyle Walker must've been thinking, 'Is this the same player I faced at Chelsea?'
"He's a brilliant player, but he's paid the price for turning up at Madrid for a big fee and not taking it seriously.
"He does switch off every now and again. As good and as great as he can be, he does down tools every so often."
City won 2-1 on the night as well as 4-2 on aggregate to advance to the quarter finals.
Hazard touched the ball 37 times at the Etihad Stadium - the second-lowest tally in the whole Madrid team.
Following the game, Hazard spoke to beIN Sports and he admitted he was frustrated with the result.
"I think we played a great game in the first half," he begun.
"We made the mistake but we scored a goal and we tried to attack more, tried to score more.
"It's hard for the club because we always want to win the Champions League and it is hard as a player also."
When asked about his first season with Madrid, Hazard replied: "It has been a tough year for me you know, I've had injuries and was out for almost six months.
"But today I was back on top and my ankle is better, we won La Liga , of course you want to win everything for this great club.
"Now we will go on holiday, rest and try to do better next season."

Brilliant Bayern Condemn Chelsea To 7-1 Aggregate Defeat
~1.0 mins read
An under-strength Chelsea side never looked like pulling off the incredible comeback it would have taken to reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
Tammy Abraham scored their goal in an otherwise largely one-sided second leg as they were again well beaten by a classy Bayern Munich side.
The Blues, 3-0 down from the first leg, always faced a tough task in Munich.
And it became even tougher when Robert Lewandowski tucked away a ninth-minute penalty after being brought down by keeper Willy Caballero.
After Mateo Kovacic had given the ball away, Ivan Perisic slotted home Bayern’s second goal on the night.
Callum Hudson-Odoi seemed to have pulled a goal back with a fine right-footed strike.
However, after a VAR check the goal was disallowed because Abraham had been in an offside position.
Abraham did pull a goal back a minute before half-time by tapping in after Emerson’s ball across the face of goal was spilled by keeper Manuel Neuer.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will look to stamp out the kind of defensive shortcomings which have been evident all season.
They were evident again when Lewandowski found space on the left and crossed for an unchallenged Tolisso to score from close range.
And Lewandowski rounded off Bayern’s emphatic victory with his second goal of the night – a fine header from Alvaro Odriozola’s right-wing cross.
