Scene 5

At the office

Collin and Adanne are walking down the corridor side by side.

Collin: Congratulations Adanne, you've done it again. Never ceasing to amaze everyone.

Adanne: You can drop the act Collin. It's just the two of us here. I know something's up with you.

Collin: You know my problem with you? It's your dumbness. You are great with academics, work and all, but when it comes to reality thinking, your IQ seems to be below zero.

Adanne: (Subtly annoyed) Like you are one to say that. By the way, what are all these insults for? I really don't understand why you'd be grumpy, just after hearing nowes if your possible promotion.

Collin: I don't believe you are dumb. But I am amazed at how you don't realize that Mr. Gabriel is using you to get his job done. You think someone of his person will actually like a girl like you? I mean we've been...

Adanne: Enough! So you are implying that I am throwing myself at Mr. Gabriel just to get his approval? I always knew you couldn't stand me excelling more than you. It has been like that since we were kids. Back then, you hated that I took the first position while you came second, Even though it was my first time topping the ranks. You haven't changed Collin. Your ego is still as rotten as ever. But what I can't seem to understand is why you even brought me to GreenHill in the first place. You should have known beforehand that I will refuse to remain hidden and satisfied with being your puppy.

Collin: You can rant all you want, but I'll advise that you don't get comfortable! (He walks out)

Adanne: (Screaming after him) That advise is for you, because I ain't backing down either! (She walks the opposite direction. Adanne's scream had attracted some staff to the corridor, and ofonime is watching afar off)

Staff 1: Those two are at it again.

Staff 2: They never get tired.

Staff 3: Truly, I admire their resilience (raising his hands). Infact, I tap from their strength.

Staff 2: Mr. Ojo! Always tapping from people.

Staff 1: Palm wine tapper!

(They all laugh. Suddenly, Ofonime interrupts them)

Ofonime: Don't you all have jobs to do?

All three: Yes ma.

Ofonime: Then go back to your jobs and stop idling about. (They all retire to their desks)

Scene 6

At the coffee shop

Collin and Bode are at a table drinking coffee, eating snacks, and discussing.

Collin: You remember that favour you owe me?

Bode: Yes, why?

Collin: I think I'll be needing it now.

Bode: What's up, what are you planning?

Collin: You said you were down with anything that'll make me tell Adanne about my feelings, right?

Bode: Yes I did. So what now, You wanna tell her?

Collin: No exactly, but I'm working towards it.

Bode: (With a puzzled look) Working?

Collin: My boss wants to make me supervisor if the new GreenHill branch, and he's making Adanne the Manager.

Bode: Well, that's good news then.

Collin: It's like you don't get it. Adanne cannot be my superior!

Bode: How and why?

Collin: The plan was to tame her and keep her in check.

Bode: Okay? But what does that have to do with anything?

Collin: And I thought I was the dumb one! (Sighs) Bode, it'll be impossible to tame her if she's in a position where she doesn't look up to me anymore.

Bode: Don't you think you're making it harder for Adanne to respect you? Guy, you are crazy sha! (Laughing)

Collin: This is serious, I need your help.

Bode: What exactly do you want me to do, cause I'm lost here.

Collin: We need to stop her promotion somehow.

Collin: Calm down. I'm not exactly killing her career. I'm just delaying it a little by getting her suspended.
