Ebonyi can never be part of Biafra, says Umahi

Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, has said the state will never be part of Biafra.

This is as the governor stressed that the state was better in a fair and equitable Nigeria, reiterating that “if anybody tells you about Biafra, Ebonyi State will never be part of Biafra”.

Umahi stated this at the Ecumenical Centre, Abakaliki, on Thursday, during a reception organised for him after declaring his presidential bid, in Abuja.

“Let nobody be afraid of the Presidency of an Igbo man. The Igbo man is a builder and not a destroyer. There is no Igbo man that will be the President of this country and would like to divide or destroy it because we have investments everywhere.

“First and foremost, I have been saying it. If anybody tells you about Biafra, Ebonyi State will never be part of Biafra. We are not Biafra.

“We have so oppressed and now we are finding our feet and you want us to go back. We will not. We will not.

“We are better in a fair and equitable Nigeria. And we are not going anywhere.

“We are not going anywhere. We won’t. We will continue to appeal and dialogue to be treated fairly and equitably like other regions of Nigeria.

“Some enemies of the South-East say if we become President we will divide the country. How will we divide the country? We have investments everywhere,” he said.

Ghanaian Footballer Sacked By South African Club for ‘Bad Luck’

Ghanaian striker, Mohammed Anas has been sacked by South African Premier Soccer League side, TS Galaxy over the most bizarre of reasons – bad luck.

Anas, 26 was released by the club after complaints of bringing bad luck to the team by his teammates and managers.

The Ghanaian international had played in various PSL sides and coincidentally, they got relegated in what his colleagues now tag a bad luck following him around.

Anas scored 10 goals in 34 league games for Free State Stars but the club got relegated. Lightning also struck again at Polokwane City and Black Leopards before joining TS Galaxy. He had made three appearances this season.

He previously played at PSL side Maritzburg United and at Eswatini football club, Mbabane Swallows.

His ‘bad luck’ has seen funny reactions from fans and followers of the league who were surprised by the club’s move.

TS Galaxy won their last league match 3-0 against Martitzburg United who sit five places above them. It was their first league win in 10 games, and they’ve drawn twice and lost seven of their previous games.

Honestly, I don't understand this. Is this an act of hypocriacy or what truth are they really hiding from us?
They claimed marriage is not important, not for everyone, that you can stay single and be having children outside wedlock, so long as you can take care of them. Yet, they go about talking you down as soon as you're of age and have no wife/husband.

11 Year Old Defending Champion Dies During Drinking Competition In Malawi

Boy, 11, dies in beer drinking competition

An 11-year-old boy, identified as Humphreys Chipeta, has died after drinking five bottles of Kachasu at a drinking contest in Mzimba.

The boy who, according to his peers, was an avid drunkard had reached finals of the contest when he collapsed.

The beer downing competition which was pegged at MK20,000 had been raised amongst all fierce boozers in the area and was organized for boys under the age of 14, according to our source.

â€œThe contest was in categories. They took ages used in football like under 14 to under 21 then the seniors,â€ said Emmanuel Chirwa, an eye witness.

He added: â€œIt usually happens and the deceased boy was a defending champion. We suspect foul play on the death. Otherwise, he was not just an amateur boozer.â€

Some of the rules of the contest, according to Chirwa, included the mandatory contribution of contest fee of MK1000 and eating before beginning the gambling.

â€œSo, he didnâ€™t die because he didnâ€™t eat before beginning the contest. They all ate before the contest. Something went wrong,â€ claimed Chirwa.

The illicit contest which was held in Chimbongondo area, traditional authority Kampingo Sibande in Mzimba exposed how under aged children are still drinking like fish across the country.

Child protection officer for the area, Shanks Nkhata, promised that he was following up the matter with interest and will soon engage chief to ban brewing of Jada in the area.

â€œWe hear the child was in Standard 7 at Kafulufulu primary and with schools on corona break, he turned into an avid drunkard. It is only him, I know. There are many more and, Iâ€™ll follow up on that to curtail the problem,â€ he said.
