Heart Attack: Simple Home Remedies That Can Prevent It.
~3.9 mins read
dangerous; they increase the likelihood of heart attack and stroke, which can be fatal. It isn't only older people who are at risk of compromised arteries.
It's important to be aware of your artery health no matter how old you are. Fortunately, there are some natural ways to keep your arteries healthy.
Make lifestyle changes
This one is obvious but absolutely essential. Throw out the cigarettes, exercise regularly, and watch your weight. Try managing your stress levels too; stress is a common factor in heart disease. Make sure you run this by your doctor, but you'll want to go up to 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week.
Choose healthy fats
People have long thought that all fat was detrimental to heart health, but this isn't the case. Omega-3 fatty acids found in fish — and in cod liver oil, in particular — are great for heart health. Other healthy oils and fats include avocado, olive, almond and flaxseed. Even coconut oil, which is a saturated fat, has a high lauric acid content, and this helps to lubricate our arteries.
Drink pomegranate juice
Pomegranate juice might help to keep our arteries healthy. It reduces blood vessel damage, thereby preventing the hardening of our arteries, and because it is so rich in antioxidants, it is thought to actually reverse the progression of heart disease.
Vitamins keep our arteries flexible and help to prevent plaque buildup and blood clots. Safe supplements are widely available, but these vitamins are also obtainable from our food.
Eat more garlic
We already know that garlic is a superfood, it is also the best way to promote clean arteries naturally. It is a powerful antioxidant and fights the free radicals in your body while lowering bad cholesterol and increasing good cholesterol. Garlic improves blood flow and fights hypertension; just try to eat it crushed and raw for maximum benefit.
Turmeric
Turmeric is fast taking off as the latest health supplement. Turmeric contains curcumin, which is proven to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that help to prevent blood clots. Turmeric also lowers bad cholesterol to reduce buildup in the arteries and relax blood vessels.
Refrain from smoking
Quitting smoking can improve your HDL cholesterol level (the good one). Blood circulation, heart rate, and blood pressure are known to improve after you quit with the effects being more pronounced the longer you quit for good.
Refrain from excessive alcohol consumption
Drink in moderation only. 1 drink per day for women of all ages and men older than 65 and 2 drinks per day for men younger than 65.

7 Food That Can Protect You Against Mosquito Bites.
~2.1 mins read
Believe it or not, there are a number of foods that can help protect you from mosquito bites or even relieve the itching that comes from a bug bite.
Onions
Rubbing a slice of onion over your skin can be a good way to keep away mosquitoes and other biting insects as most bugs are repelled by them.
Orange and lemon peels
Just as onions can repel mosquitoes, you can get similar results by rubbing fresh orange or lemon peels over your exposed skin. Its said that mosquitoes and gnats are totally repulsed by either scent.
Garlic
If you intend to embark on a trip to a place that is filled with bugs and insects, it is advised that you start eating garlic several days earlier. Eat a clove or two every day.
As you sweat out the garlic odour, it repels many insects and prevents mosquito bites.
Milk
If you feel your skin is burning up from too much sun exposure or if itchy mosquito bites are driving you crazy, try using a little milk paste for soothing relief.
Mix one part powdered milk with two parts water and add a pinch or two of salt. Dab it on the burn or bite. The enzymes in the milk powder will help to neutralize the venom of the insects and also help relieve sunburn pain.
Salt
To get instant relief from the itching of mosquito and chigger bites, soak the area in salt water, then apply a coating of vegetable oil.
Olive oil
The stagnant or still water around your house provides the perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes. Floating a few tablespoons of vegetable oil on the surface of the water will help keep mosquitoes from using the water.
It is however, still important to change the water twice a week so any larvae dont have time to hatch.
Apple cider vinegar
If you are visiting any mosquito infested area, plan ahead. Approximately three days before you leave, start taking 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar three times a day.
Continue using the vinegar throughout your time there and there is a high chance that when you return to your enclave, you may do so without a bite.
Alternatively, you can moisten a cloth or cotton ball with white vinegar and rub it over your exposed skin.
