Kuje Prison Break: Another Terror Escapee Arrested With Drug At Area 1 In Abuja

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested one of the wanted terror suspects who escaped from the Medium Security Correctional Centre, Kuje, following an attack on the facility by insurgents last week in Abuja.

Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi made this known in a statement in Abuja.

Babafemi said the fleeing terror suspect, Suleiman Sidi, was arrested in the early hours of Monday 11th July at Area 1 motorpark, in the Federal Capital Territory while attempting to board a commercial vehicle to Maiduguri, Borno state.

When he was searched, three wraps of cannabis sativa were found on him.

He explained that, during preliminary interview, the wanted terror suspect confimed he was remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre for terrorism and robbery charges, adding that he was indeed one of the inmates who escaped from the facility last Tuesday.

He said, while commending the officers and men of the FCT Command of the Agency for the arrest and their vigilance, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) has directed that the wanted suspect should be immediately handed over to the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS.

2023: Fayose Demand Shift Of Power To South

Mr. Ayo Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, said that a Southerner must be the next president after President Muhammadu Buhari in the upcoming 2023 election, as reported by Vanguard.

The former governor, a cheiftain of the oposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a tweet, said it is now the time for a Southerner to become the next president of Nigeria.

According to his statement: “The constitution of the PDP provide a rotational Presidency. Section three(c) stated that the PDP party shall pursue its objectives and goals by following the policy of zoning and rotation of public elective officials and the party, in pursuance of justice and equity.

“As you can see the current President of Nigeria is a Northerner and a 2-time Presidency, and because of this it has to be a Southern Presidency in 2023 election or nothing.”

Fayose while writing in Yoruba language, he tweeted that “awa South lo kan” — which means that, “is now the turn of the South”.

The former Ekiti State governor also said that Nigerians should “wait for more details ahead”.
