Heres Why Nigerian Youths Are Not Backing Down From The Protests
~0.8 mins read
For the past few days, Nigerian youths, have taken to the streets to air their views on police brutality and the menace that the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) has become in the society.
Nigerian youths are fed up with being profiled and abused by the system that is supposed to protect them.
Yesterday, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, announced that SARS had been disbanded during a live broadcast.
However, shortly after this announcement was made peaceful protesters in the nation's capital, Abuja, were attacked with teargas and hot water by police officers. According to reports, protesters in Abuja were also beaten up by police officers.
Nigerian youths are tired and the protests are far from over. Multiple protests are now taking place across the nation. Major roads have been blocked and the people are not backing down till they are heard.
The people have mobilized like this and the president is yet to utter a word. This is just one of the many reasons why the protests are not going to end anytime soon.
