THE EFFECTS OF NON-PAYMENT OF SALARY TO CIVIL SERVANTS IN NIGERIA (part 3).
~0.7 mins read
The principle of wage and salary administration in Nigeria should be made fair for every government worker. For Al Nigerian worker's steady salary constitute motivation for working better and adding value to the society.

In contrast to the aforementioned fact, the limited cash inflow in the pockets of workers only serves as an engineering tool for more crimes to be committed. Crimes such as arm robbery, kidnapping (which is on the increase now), banditry, election irregularities, ghost workers syndrome, and many more. Thus, it is believed by many citizens in the society that non-payment of salary to civil servants is the BANE of Nigeria.

THE EFFECTS OF NON-PAYMENT OF SALARY TO CIVIL SERVANTS IN NIGERIA (part 2).
~1.7 mins read
For this article, the effects will be narrowed down to only the civil servants; their lives, family, and work.

The Effects of Non-payment of Salary to civil servants.

The inability to pay the salaries of government workers has enormous effects on them which carry grave consequences to the citizens, society, and country at large. Below are the top major effects caused by non-payment of salary.

•Families: Generally, a family is made up of the father, mother, and children (in a nuclear setting) and cousins, uncles, and aunts (in an extended setting). The workers in the family aim at getting their pay with their skill/knowledge to provide and improve the living condition of all members of the household.

The nonpayment of the salaries of these workers brings a paucity in the availability of necessities for human life(food, clothing, healthcare, transportation, shelter, etc). Children drop out of school because parents no longer have the cash inflow to provide food and tuition fee.

In Benue State, for instance, parents enroll their kids in learning craftwork or any skill so they can also contribute or even provide the necessities needed in the home. This situation is very pathetic and disgusting.

•Health: The health condition of our working parents in Nigeria is not guaranteed when they run into serious debts trying to cater for the needs of the family without being paid by the government for months and even years.

This kind of tension and pressure from all angles leads to anxiety, aggression, depression, high blood pressure, and all other forms of illnesses attacking their health status which leads or may lead the poor workers to their graves(untimely death).

•Work: non-payment of salaries triggers workers' dislike for their work thereby leading to an ultimate decline in work efficiency and productivity. The unpaid government employees express their suppressed hostility towards the government by abandoning their work and activities to stay at home till salaries are paid.

For example; Some unpaid workers who insist on going to work, normally walk from their houses to offices because they can not afford petrol for their cars. Others without cars strictly stay at home since they have no transport fare and many more challenges towards work.
