79,000 Insurgents Surrender As 3 More Chibok Girls Rescued Nigerian Army

Maj.-Gen. Christopher Musa, the Theatre Commander, North East “Operation Hadin Kai”, stated that over 79,000 insurgents comprising non combatants and combatants have so far surrendered to the Nigerian Army.

It was reported by Vanguard that Musa made the statement in Maiduguri while briefing newsmen about the recent successes of the command.
Musa said that the sustained onslaught on the insurgents under the non kinetic and kenetic approaches had led to the surrender of the terrorists. According to him, there is need to have more camps in Maiduguri to host the repentants that were being sorted out to identify the combatants.
The commander lauded the support from the general public, which he described as “unsung heroes” and pleaded with them to sustain tempo for a speedy end of the conflict.
He said, “We are very happy and satisfied with the way the general public had been supporting us; they see the sincerity in what the Nigerian soldiers are doing.
“We are committed to regulations of engagement in our operations and the human rights charter."
Also while talking about the recent success, Maiduguri, Maj.- Gen. Waidi Shuaibu, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division, said that 3 more Chibok girls were also rescued, within the period under review.
Shuaibu stated that the three girls rescued comprised Asabe Ali, Jinkal Yama, and Falmata Lawan, who are on serial number 3, 12 and 20, respectively on the list of the abducted Chibok girls.
