What Does The Statement, "I Bless God" Means?
~1.6 mins read
I have encountered individuals who question the use of the words, "I bless God". So, I thought of an idea to share my thoughts here.
Many people ask different questions such as, how is it possible for God to want a blessing from us? What can I give God that is going to bless him? What do I have that is going to make any difwhference to God? These questions come to mind because when we think of blessing, we oftentimes think of a monetary blessing, a good deed or some sort of help that was kindly bestowed to us.
what does it mean to bless God?
we are familiar with God's blessings upon us, but what does it really mean for us to bless God? The phrase "bless the Lord" or "bless God" are found primarily in the old testament. The psalms, especially, are filled with the psalmists' blessings upon God. The king James version uses "bless the Lord" many times, but the more modern translation renders it "praise" means literally "to kneel", the implication being to kneel in worship.
All God wants is you, your faith, your praise, your worship. "I bless God" encompasses everything. By everything, I mean praise, worship, thankfulness, gratitude, adoration, admiration, etc. It can be anything that lifts his name higher.
Below are some of the Bible verses where the phrase "Bless God" or "Bless the lord" was used;
* Bless the lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. Psalm 103:2
* I will bless the Lord at all times, his praise shall continually be in my mouth. Psalm 34:1
* I will extol you, my God and king and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever. Psalm 145:1-2
I bless God with all that I have and I implore you to do the same. Give him you.
