Infatuation is an intense but short lived passion or admiration for something or someone. 

Love is an intense feeling of deep affection, great pleasure and interest in something or someone. 

They both entail affection and passion but how do they differ?

1. Infatuation is generally sexual attraction while love is attraction to the person himself. 

2. Infatuation is most times interested in physical intimacy while love is interested in all other activities in the life of the person.

3. In love you are interested in the persons life outside the bedroom and have the desire to meet his/family and friends. In infatuation you want just the person and nothing more.

4. Love looks out for the interest of the other while infatuation looks out for ones own interest only.

5. Infatuation is strong but short lived. Love is strong but patient.

6. Infatuation is blind with no explainable reasons. Love sees and is always for a reason.

7. Love brings a feeling of safety, security , commitment and partnership. Infatuation brings feelings of unrest . 

8. Love is reciprocal and leaves you with a feeling of fulfillment. Infatuation gratifies your cravings but leaves you with a feeling of emptiness.
