In honor of Nigeria's Democracy Day, which falls on June 12, the Federal Government has declared Monday, June 13, a public holiday.

 

Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, announced this on Thursday in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr M. L. Shuaib Belgore.

 

He congratulated Nigerians and urged all citizens to support the current administration in its efforts to ensure the security, unity, and prosperity of the country.

 

Aregbesola urged Nigerians to consider the country's long journey from before independence in 1960 to the establishment of civil democratic order, as well as the sacrifices of our patriots.

 

As we celebrate another Democracy Day in our dear country's history, let us remember our founding fathers' efforts to keep Nigeria one united, secure, peaceful, and indivisible entity, remembering that no development can take place in an acrimonious environment.

 

"With the challenges we face in Nigeria today, I see an opportunity for us to break open; open up to ourselves in truth so that we can appreciate each other, understand each other, honor each other, and live together in peace and prosperity," he says. Aregbesola was reported to have said

“He was admitted for a total of seven days during which he had physiotherapy and a smooth rehabilitation following the surgical operation. He has been discharged and is now recuperating,” he said.

He said Osinbajo is grateful to all the clinical and ancillary staff of the hospital, led by its Chief Executive Officer, Tokunbo Shitta-Bey, and the Medical Director, Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi, for their professionalism and quality of care.
