~1.6 mins read

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the remark on President Muhammadu Buhari influencing the people during the 2023 general political race shows that the present administration is plotting to stay in power for a third term.

It was reported earlier on Tuesday, while addressing the journalists in Katsina state, Garba Shehu, official representative, had said the masses will trust Buhari for direction on whom to vote in 2023 general election.
"We have seen PDP with false hope for assuming to take over power in 2023 general election. The majority won't ever leave President Buhari's leadership. I'm certain in 2023, they're hanging tight for him to show the way," Shehu had said.
But, in an articulation gave on Tuesday evening by Kola Ologbondiyan, the party's representative, the PDP cautioned the administration against plans to look for a third term in office, noticing that such an activity would be resisted.
"The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the statement and clarification made by the Buhari Presidency that Nigerians will be sitting tight for Buhari "to show the way in 2023" has additionally elevated public anxieties of self-progression plot by the secrecy in the Presidency," the statement reads.
"Nigerians were shocked when President Buhari's representative, Shehu Garba, openly declared in Daura, Mr. President's hometown, that President Buhari "establishes a political obstruction" which the individuals who try to succeed him, come 2023 "cannot dismantle”.
"Such explanation by the Presidency, which is in its last lap of the second and last residency in office, isn't just provocative but also likens to plots to crash our established popularity.
"Maybe the comment by the Buhari Presidency clarifies why there have been weighty surge against our institutions of democracy just as the Electoral Act.
"Our party and indeed most of Nigerian across board and even across party line caution President Buhari's controllers to take note of that such plots can't remain as it will be solidly opposed by individuals. Shehu Garba should be bold enough to declare that President Buhari will be on the voting form for another term in 2023 and observe how Nigerians will react".
