BREAKING; ASUU Extends Three Months Warning Strike, Refuses To Negotiate With Federal Government
~1.0 mins read
ASUU extends industrial action as 3-months initial extension elapses

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has extended the prolonged industrial action embarked upon over five months ago by another four weeks.

Recall that the striking lecturers shut down public universities on February 14, 2022, following the inability of the Federal Government to implement a Memorandum of Action (MoA) entered by the two parties in 2020.

ASUU National President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke in a statement on Monday, said the decision to further extend the strike was to enable the FG satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues raised.

The development was sequel to an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council of the union held at the Comrade Festus Iyayi National Secretariat, University of Abuja, Abuja, on Sunday.

The statement reads in part, “Following extensive deliberations and taking cognisance of Government’s past failures to abide by its own timelines in addressing issues raised in the 2020 FGN/ASUU Memorandum of Action (MoA), NEC resolved that the strike be rolled over for four weeks to give Government more time to satisfactorily resolve all the outstanding issues.

“The role-over strike action is with effect from 12.01am on Monday, 1st August 2022”.

PREMIER LEAGUE; Full List Of August Games For The Red Devils Including Tough Match Against Liverpool At Old Trafford
~1.9 mins read
Premier League football returns in a few days time for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United after they played the last of their pre-season tour yesterday in a 1-1 draw with Spanish team,Rayo Vallecano at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils record in the just completed pre-season friendlies isn't exactly impressive. Out of six games played, they won three, drew two and lost one to Atletico Madrid, with the last game played yesterday on home soil.

The return of Cristiano Ronaldo and the signings of Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen may well be the few positives to take away from the club at the moment, but make no mistakes, they may be far from ready for the new season.

For context, today being August 1st makes it exactly two months since the Red Devils started negotiating with FC Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong, but up till now, Frenkie de Jong is not even a step closer to signing for Manchester United or leaving Camp Nou.

Again, the club needs an upgrade on the winger options of Tahith Chong and Anthony Elenga. In fact,it took just a little knock on Jadon Sancho to reveal the club's lack of depth in that area, as lots of wasteful chances yesterday came from the right wingers.

AFC Ajax's €100 million valuation of Atony Santos is also not helping matters,as is the fact Mason Greenwood is still far from returning to the team.

The month of August will see Erik ten Hag get his first taste of football in England, and generally we will see what the Dutch head coach is capable of, given the shallow squad depth he has at the moment.

Here are the four Premier League games that will be undergone by the Red Devils in the month of August as Erik ten Hag gets off to his first official games as Manchester United boss and life as a head coach in England;

August 7; Manchester United Vs Brighton and Hove Albion

August 13; Brentford Vs Manchester United

August 22; Manchester United Vs Liverpool

August 27; Southampton Vs Manchester United

A win in all games will guarantee the Red Devils a total of 15 points, but for now, everything is still under speculation and assumptions.

How many wins and points do you think Manchester United will be able to take away in these four Premier League fixtures in August?
