Gambian Authorities Unhappy With EU Sanctions
~0.5 mins read
Top Gambian officials are bitterly bemoaning “sanctions” by the European Union (EU) over “misapprehension and misunderstanding” regarding contentious but also controversial issues between the two partners.
The embargo which officials said is currently “tightened” involve “refusal to facilitate visa issuance to certain Gambians especially top government officials”.
The public have been complaining about visa rejections for many years, however it seems like it is now affecting government officials. We're clearly not doing well on the international stage. It is urgent we make the changes necessary to lift these sanctions. We're in a globalised world and freedom of movement is essential to development. Since we insist on receiving assistance from the international community, then we must comply with their conditions, so we can all benefit. Our future depends on it!
