JUST IN; Ajax Reportedly Places Price Tag On Antony Santos As Man Utd Closes In On Deal For The Brazilian
~1.5 mins read
AFC Ajax has now set a price tag on the head of their highly sought right wing forward Antony Santos amidst interests from top European clubs.
Yesterday,Ajax new head coach Alfred Schreuder had said in an interview that Antony Santos was very important to his project at the Eredivisie club,as he wanted to retain him against all odds. Already,a few top players like Gravenberch, Sebastien Haller and Lisandro Martinez had left the club this summer, with more players also slated for a move.
Erik ten Hag's move to Old Trafford this summer has seen him desire for some of the players he had worked with during his time at AFC Ajax. Frenkie de Jong had topped this list, but for now the saga with FC Barcelona still drags on and he is yet to come.
Lisandro Martinez was announced by Manchester United a few days ago,but the Argentine defender/midfielder hasn't resumed training yet with Manchester United's team.
Christian Eriksen will reportedly join the team next season after moving on a free transfer from Brentford.
As things stand now,Erik ten Hag really needs a defensive midfielder and a right wing forward, and Antony Santos perfectly fits in the latter position. Despite Ajax's stance on not selling the Brazilian forward, the lad himself is pushing for a move away from the Eredivisie and Manchester United haven't entirely given up on his deal.
Reports from top football media outlets in the Netherlands today claim that Ajax are demanding €80 million which translates to £68 million (£58 million and £10 million in add-ons).
This fee was reportedly put up to scare away Manchester United from getting the 32 year old forward, but as things stand,a Cristiano Ronaldo's exit from Manchester United could open up a signing for Antony Santos.
The next few days will be crucial in determining if Manchester United meets the €80 million/ £68 million fee demanded by AFC Ajax or if they will back away.

Three (3) Talking Points As Man Utd Is Held To A 2-2 Draw By Aston Villa At Optus Stadium In Pre-season
~1.4 mins read
Steven Gerard's Aston Villa team has now ruined Manchester United's perfect pre-season record by holding the Red Devils to a 2-2 draw at Optus stadium in Australia. Goals from Jadon Sancho,Bailey,an own goal from Matty Cash, and a late equalizer from Chambers settled the full time scores as Erik ten Hag Manchester United team failed to win against Aston Villa.
Bad weather conditions and a further bad pitch contributed to Manchester United's decline a few minutes ago, even as they are still unbeaten in their pre-season tour under Erik ten Hag.
Here are three talking points as Aston Villa holds Manchester United to a 2-2 draw at Optus stadium a few minutes ago;
David De Gea may be a great player, but is nowhere near what modern football wants. The equalizer which came from a Chambers header was solely on him,as he should have come out to claim the cross.
In the end, Manchester United will need a sweeper goalkeeper who can play modern football at his feet, and with Henderson on loan to Nottingham Forest,Erik ten Hag may have to sign another goalkeeper.
Frenkie de Jong is still much needed in the Manchester United's midfield,as little or zero creativity is usually seen when Bruno Fernandes is not performing. A defensive midfielder may also be needed in addition to Christian Eriksen who is coming to Old Trafford soon.
Marcus Rashford,Jadon Sancho,Fred and Anthony Martial have improved tremendously with the ongoing pre-season tours, and we hope to see more of that in the Premier League next season. The youngsters being given a few minutes of play also deserves it,as it will go a long way in helping them break into the first team anytime soon.
