"Ok sir, thank you sir...", Max continued as he narrated the story.

"Jason and I had been friends since our university days, I knew Jason to be a fervent christian but I was just a regular church goer. Jason had always advised and encouraged me to get deeper with my walk with God but I never bought his advice, I always found a way of dismissing the discussion anytime he brought the matter up.

We both graduated and were posted to the same state which is this state to serve, we were so glad because that meant our friendship would grow stronger.

While serving, Jason got engaged to a certain lady in Batch B, we were in Batch A but his fiancee was in Batch B and I was still single because I was not serious, I wasn't ready to settle down, I was doing the popular 'hit and run' though I still went to church.

So we three eventually finished serving and we all got jobs.

I knew Jason's fiancee was indeed a pretty lady but something happened to me the day Jason celebrated her birthday, he threw a party for her and invited we his friends to grace the occasion as the lady invited hers as well, they were still courting then.

She was looked so gorgeous that day, well who won't look gorgeous on her special day, her birthday?

But then I was like 'wow.'..

My friend's fiancee is so beautiful and elegant meanwhile I had never seen him chase after ladies for once all the time I had known him and he still got someone that pretty, not just pretty but a brain as a wife.

While I on the other side had been here and there and yet I had not seen a 'beauty and brain' for a wife.

I suddenly felt this pang of envy, I felt that I should be the one having such a fiancee since according to myself then I had more experience than him.

There and then my heart was filled with envy, anger, bitterness and hatred towards Jason and I swore that I was going to dent his testimony.
