My Twisted Fate With Ahmed
~1.7 mins read
It was in 2016 that Ahmed was telling me "Peter, you should be yourself". He was reading a book that asked people to be themselves.
I thought he misunderstood the book. The thing is I had lost my way, I became an academic and I was loosing my core self. I was brainwashed by mainstream and scientific media. I listened to people who said don't be yourself because, what if being yourself is being a wussy.
So I thought I was right. I argued against him, I told him it's not everytime you must be yourself. One reason I stood my ground against him was because I also thought he was not disciplined enough to be himself.
For him being yourself could mean you live with a landlord who doesn't allow alcohol, but get drunk and go back home. He meant show your true color every single time. Never ever pretend even if it is disrespectful, or even lethal but I fought back, it wasn't logical just a great analysis.
Today, I find myself highly opinionated, I find me screaming Authenticity on the top of my voice. I find myself saying to myself and everyone else "Be yourself" no matter what. If the true you is being a wussy, then be that wussy. It only quickens your path.
If you are truly a terrible person, know it that you would down. Show your trueself and you would go down but smoothly.
And if you are truly a great person (not what you think, I mean genueinly) then show your trueself, you would go up faster.
Today I look back and see " Ahmed was right" I wasn't being myself. I had gone through the educational system, going through my second university. I was training to become the alpha I am not. I did not know who I had become and I was broken.
Today, I know where I belong. I know education isn't everything, and I know spirituality is humanity.
This is in note of my friend Ahmed, sent ahead of me to Gambia as a first hand guardian. Our Fate is twisted!!!
Just a sidenote: This post doesn't intend to say Ahmed is an entirely authentic individual, it emphasizes on the advice he shared from the book he read. Just to clarify 😊
