6 Major Times Science Was Wrong.
~2.2 mins read
1. Pluto

Our solar system was once believed to be made up of nine(9) planets namely Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

About 15 years ago, this long believe was proven wrong. Recent evidences showed that pluto was not acually in the league like the rest 8. It is now believed that Pluto is a dwarf planet that lies in the Kuiper Belt, an area full of icy bodies and other dwarf planets out past Neptune.

2. Spontaneous generation

Spontaneous generation or equivocal generation is an obsolete principle concerning the origin of life from inanimate matter. The hypothesis was brought out by Aristotle who advocated the work of earlier natural philosophers. It was proven wrong in the 19th century by the experiments of Louis Pasteur, drawing influence from Francesco Redi who was an early proponent of germ theory and cell theory.

3. The shape of the earth.

Centuries ago, it was believed that the earth was flat like a table amd that there a place called the edge of the earth. Ships didn't sail so far else they might fall off the edge of the world.

This continued for years until it was later proven that the earth was actually round, and not flat. The shape of the earth was described as 'geoid'. Many evidence were used to proof this. Things like the night and day, sunrise and sunset and even the fact that someone had sailed through out the earth and never fell off.

4.Static Universe

A static universe, also called a “stationary” or “Einstein” universe, was a model proposed by Albert Einstein in 1917. It was problematic from the beginning. Edwin Hubble’s discovery of the relationship between red shift obliterated it by completely demonstrating that the universe is constantly expanding.

So even our almighty Albert Einstein was once wrong.

5. Phrenology

Phrenology which was practised in the olden days, was the study of the shape of skull as indicative of the strengths of different faculties.

How ever modern scientific research wiped it out by proving that personality traits could not be traced to specific portions of the brain.

6. Asteroid

Brian G. Marsden, director of the Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams at the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, predicted that on October 26, 2028, an asteroid about a mile in diameter would come within 30,000 miles of Earth. That's within spitting distance, spacewise, which evoked comparisons to the asteroid that crashed on the Yucatàn peninsula 65 million years ago, allegedly wiping out all the dinosaurs.

It was later discovered that Marsden issued his warnings based on very few meaaurements. Now he anticipates the asteroid will pass Earth at a safe distance of 600,000 miles.
