THE WEAPONS OF OUR ENEMY (III)

Read: Genesis 3:1-8

Genesis 3:1-8 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,
but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
"You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman.
“For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.
Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden.

MEMORISE: So the man of God returned with him and ate and drank in his house. (1 kings 13:19).

EXPOSITION
It is used for attack or fight an enemy. The enemy of our soul is waging war against us using some weapons to bring down the mighty people in the Lord. The devil, our enemy, is subtle, he outwits the careless believers, using his subtle weapons, which we shall be considering in today's Living Water dose. Believers who depend on God's wisdom can never be brought down by the devil through any of his weapons.

The enemy's first weapon, which has proved effective overtime, is food. Food is God's creature and gift. It is the building blocks of the human body, i.e., cells. It is the fuel man needs to be active. Apart from the nourishing value of food, it can be a poison to destroy one's life and destiny. Successful Christians are those who have been assisted by the Lord to check their attitude to whatever they take into their bodies.

Among those who have suffered humiliation, condemnation, shame and woes due to their failure to check what goes into their stomach are Adam and Eve, Isaac, Esau and the young Prophet of Judah. What they wanted to eat dulled their senses and they transgressed God's specific orders. What a great calamity! (Gen. 2:15-17; 25:27-34; 1 Kgs. 13:11-19ff).

Paul says: “I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. (1 Cor. 6:12). Control your appetite (Prov. 17:1)!

Don't be careless or reckless with your life. Your destiny is greater than the momentary enjoyment and satisfaction you can get from any meal, or delicacies. People who consume alcohol, or any hard substance (drugs) are encouraged to desist from such. May God's grace be sufficient for you as you take cue from Daniel, who would not spoil himself with the kings delicacies.

PRAYER POINTS
1. Thank You, our God, for Your adequate provision of daily bread and the satisfaction we get from food consumption. Continue to give us our daily bread.
2. O Lord, eject every poison that has entered into my body through food consumption, in the mighty name of Jesus.
3. Lord, we tackle the devil and his schemes to pitch us against God through what we take in, in the name of Jesus.

 _Day 16 Friday, October 2020_

 *Topic: UNLIMITED SUPPLY*

 *Memory verse:*
“And [so that you can know and understand] what is the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His power in and for us who believe. ...”
(Ephesians 1:19, AMP)

If someone had a thousand gallons of water to give you but you only had a one-gallon container, you wouldn’t be able to receive what they had for you. The problem would not be with the supply; it would be with your ability to receive. If you would get rid of the small container and get something larger, then you could receive so much more.

It’s the same way with God. You may think, “The economy is bad. I could never afford that house I really want. My business will never expand. I don’t have the funding. I don’t have the people behind me.” No, you’ve got to get rid of that one-gallon bucket. Get rid of that small container.

The God we serve is a big God! He has an ocean, an unlimited supply. Jesus said, “According to your faith it will be done unto you.” It’s not according to God. God has all the power, all the resources in the world. It’s according to what we believe. Today, increase your capacity to receive.

Enlarge your thinking by meditating on the Word of God. Praise Him and magnify Him because with God, all things are possible, and He has an unlimited supply!
