Three Mistake Pastor Ibiyeomie Made Against Daddy Freezing.
~7.6 mins read
For a couple of days now, the internet has been inundated with stories about the exchange of words between the celebrity media personality, Daddy Freeze, and the founder of Salvation Ministries, Pastor David Ibiyeomie.
The trouble actually began when Bishop David Oyedepo made a statement on the need for wives to be totally submissive to their husbands. Making quotations from the Bible, he said that was the prerequisite for a happy marriage.
Daddy Freeze then faulted his message, with reference from the Bible. But that did not go down well with Pastor David Ibiyeomie, who said that Bishop David Oyedepo is his father, and Daddy Freeze had no right to insult his father.
It should be noted that, Daddy Freeze is well known for attacking some men of God in Nigeria over certain doctrines he says are against the scriptures. So this isn't the first time he has been seen taking a stance against some old laid down Christian beliefs in the country.
In a video which was published to the public two days ago, Pastor Ibiyeomie was seen waxing hysterically, as he expressed his displeasure against Daddy Freeze for his attack against Bishop Oyedepo's teachings.
In my opinion, I think Pastor Ibiyeomie allowed his emotions to take control of him, as he went on unleashing heaps of scathing remarks on Daddy Freeze. He called him a bastard who doesn't know his father, and challenged him to show his father to the public if he has one. Adding that it is only people who don't have fathers that go about insulting other people's fathers.
He said that Daddy Freeze is a Somalian whose mother took in for in a ship. He warned him that he would kill him if he ever insults his father again. He said that Bishop Oyedepo might not talk, but he would not keep quiet and watch Daddy Freeze insult him.
Apart from the threats he made concerning his life, he also threatened to arrest him if he dares tries that again. And that Daddy Freeze is a "common broadcaster", and he would dare him to bring out money and spend on the case if he has the money.
Well, the video has probably been seen by everyone out there, so there is no need to analyze it again.
After more than a day of silence from Daddy Freeze, he released a video via his YouTube channel early this morning, in response to Pastor David Ibiyeomie's statements.
In the video, he stated it categorically clear that he would always say the truth even if there's a gun held to his head. He expressed his shock over the scathing remarks Pastor Ibiyeomie made about him. He said that he wasn't insulting Bishop David Oyedepo, but was only disagreeing with what he said, with backup from the Scriptures. That even Jesus Christ and other Apostles in the Bible faced criticisms, so criticizing Bishop Oyedepo shouldn't be interpreted as an insult.
He debunked the pastor's claim about him being a Somalian, even though he would be proud to be one if he were, and dwelled on his family background. Well, the video has already been seen by many, so let's move on to the purpose of this article.
Looking at the statements that Pastor David Ibiyeomie made in his video, and comparing those statements with the facts on the ground and his status as a respectable pastor, I think he made some really conspicuous mistakes that undermine his position as a religious leader.
So let's look at the 3 major mistakes he made in his statement.
1. Calling Daddy Freeze a bastard.
Well, I am still trying to figure out how he came about that accusation against Daddy Freeze's mother. Because Daddy Freeze several times had shown the photos of his family to the public, and has never hidden facts about his identity.
He was born to a Yoruba father named Alhaji Dr. A.G.A. Olarinde, and a Romanian mother who is a Professor of Law.
Below are photos of Daddy Freeze and his parents.
So for Pastor Ibiyeomie to try to tarnish the reputation of Daddy Freeze's family over a religious agreement was a big mistake on his part as a man of God. Even though he had not known about it before, he should have made his findings before making such a statement, because as Christians, we need to be mindful of the kind of words that come out from our mouth.
2. His threat against Daddy Freeze's life.
I want to believe that Pastor Ibiyeomie allowed his anger to take control of him in that video, because it is quite unfortunate to see a Pastor threatening to kill someone.
As a pastor, he ought to have remembered that it is only God that can give and take life. Apart from that, I don't see why he felt he needed to fight for God. You don't threaten someone's life just because the person's belief does not tally with yours. In my opinion, that was a huge mistake from him, and I know millions of people are equally disappointed with such utterances.
3. His mockery of Daddy Freeze's mixed race.
In the video, Pastor Ibiyeomie referred to Daddy Freeze as a "half-caste" whose mother got pregnant for in a ship for a Somalian. No matter how we want to interpret it, this is all shades of wrong. It is very dishonorable to use derogatory words for someone because of the color of their skin or race.
The whole world is putting in efforts to stamp out racism and racial discrimination from the human race, but seeing these kinds of words from someone like Pastor Ibiyeomie makes us wonder if we will ever win the war against racism and discrimination.
That was one of the biggest mistakes he made in his statements, and it undermines his position as a revered man of God in the country.
Pastor David Ibiyeomie could have gone ahead to criticize Daddy Freeze without using threatening and derogatory words, but he allowed his anger to push him to err with his tongue. And if we must say the truth, Daddy Freeze deserves an apology from him for such scathing remarks.
In my opinion, those are 3 major mistakes he made in his speech against Daddy Freeze.
What is your own opinion on this? What do you think about the statements Pastor Ibiyeomie made against Daddy Freeze? Do you Daddy Freeze deserves an apology from him. Tell us what you think in the comments section
