CLO Urges Discos To Adhere To NERC Directive On Estimated Billing
~3.0 mins read
The Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO) has called on electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) to adhere strictly to National Electricity Regulatory Commission’s (NERC) directive on estimated billing.
The Chairman of CLO, Anambra, Mr Vincent Ezekwueme, made the call while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Enugu. Ezekwueme was reacting to comments by Nigerians on continuous outrageous billing by the DisCos even after the NERC directive on estimated billing.
“CLO condemns crazy and outrageous billing by most electricity DisCos in the country.
“We call on DisCos to strictly adhere to NERC directive that estimated bills should not exceed N2, 000 per month.
“Or in the alternative, DisCos should transparently distribute free prepaid metres to consumers,” he said.
The chairman also pleaded with the government and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to work assiduously towards protecting rights of citizens and reduction in cost of governance.
According to him, CLO calls on governments at all levels to beef up and restructure security architecture by marshaling out plans towards eliminating all security challenges confronting the country.
“CLO also wants Federal Government to look into and implement some of the resolutions reached at the of 2014 National Constitutional Conference to tackle some emerging challenges facing the country,’’ he said.
On 71st Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Ezekwueme said that CLO used the opportunity on Dec. 11 to bestow on Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Fegge, CSP Rabiu Garba, an award for excellence as “Most Outstanding DPO in South-East and Anambra State’’.
“As a DPO, CSP Rabiu Garba, has defended the rights of all especially the poor and ordinary Nigerians living in Fegge community within Onitsha general area in Anambra State.
“Oga Garba, as we fondly call him, has so related well with the people of Fegge that he had built trust with the people and currently a shining example of an ideal police officer,’’ he said.

~1.6 mins read
Death is a call that everyone must answer, no matter the kind of person that you are. Whether your are big, small, rich or poor. Our Prayers is that, we shouldn't die or loose our loved ones at an early age. It should be when we are old. No Parents wish to bury their children, rather they want their Children to bury them at an old age. Its so sad when we hear news of Young and bright youths, who looses their lives, to the cold hands of death.

I can not even begin to imagine the kind of pains, the Parents will be going through now, after loosing their daughter scored 7 A1 in her WEAC Examination last year. The young girl whose name is Chisom Chukwuneke, was the best graduating student in her school last year. She won many awards in her school, and now death has caught short the life of this Young girl.

The father of the Girl who is a Professor, shared a very touching story of how his daughter died. He shared the story on his Facebook account. According to what he posted, the young girl started complaining of having a pain in the leg. And just like every father that desires the best for their child, he decided to fly her to South Africa because he didn't have trust in the medical system of this country.

At first, they were happy with her recovery rate, but they never knew it was going to end like this. They started treatment there in South Africa, and they were fighting the sickness that started as a leg pain, and later grew into something else for over a year. The father talked about his late daughter's character, and how she was strong and did her best to fight the sickness. He even talked about the gift his daughter promised him before his birthday, he didn't know that the gift will be her death.

Something that Started as a leg pain, was what metamorphozide and took away this young and bright student's life.

Chisom, May your gentle soul rest in Perfect Peace.
