SAFETY FIRST!!! If Your Gas Cylinder Is On Fire, Don't Pour Water On It, Instead Do This (See Photos)
~4.9 mins read
Most people say using of Gas Cylinder is risky while some say they will never buy or use them at home. The truth is that, the safety of the gas cylinder solely depends on the user.
Some persons mis-manage it while some take precaution while using it.

In this article we will be discussing what should be done when your gas is on fire and also how to prevent gas cylinder explosion.
Fire is the rapid oxidation of a material in the exothermic chemical process of combustion, releasing heat, light, and various reaction products. Fire is hot because the conversion of the weak double bond in molecular oxygen, O2, to the stronger bonds in the combustion products carbon dioxide and water releases energy
The flame is the visible portion of the fire. Flames consist primarily of carbon dioxide, water vapor, oxygen and nitrogen. If hot enough, the gases may become ionized to produce plasma. Depending on the substances alight, and any impurities outside, the color of the flame and the fire's intensity will be different.
If your cylinder is on fire, you shouldn't pour water on the cylinder because as you keep pouring water the gas coming out the cylinder will keep the fire burning. And don't ever go try to try to off the gas cylinder's regulator when the fire is still burning to avoid dangerous explosion.
All You need need do at that moment is to off the fire but no by pouring water on the cylinder.
Take the steps below to easily put out the fire
1. Look for a piece of clothe.
2. Find or locate a bowl of water.
3. Soak the clothe on the bowl of water.
4. Cover the burning gas with the wet clothe(This will put out the fire).
5. Then off the cylinder using the gas regulator.
This is best way to put out fire on gas cylinder, any other method you try may be risky and can lead to death or serious injury.

How to prevent Gas Cylinder Explosion

Domestic gas cylinder if not well handled can lead to fatal accidents such as explosions. Therefore learning how to prevent gas cylinder explosion is important. The following are safety tips that you can apply when handling gas cylinders.
#1. Keep the gas knob out of reach for children when not using.
#2. Make sure that the kitchen or cooking area is well ventilated for a good flow of air in case of a gas leak.
#3. Educate people around you on gas cylinder safety measures and how to use and handle gas cylinders.
#4. Do not use make use of gas cylinder for long hours while cooking.
Welding Gas, Not LPG
In reality, most accidents involving gas bottles and tradespeople are welding gas related and not LPG. Most gas cylinder are made locally and not suitable for hold gaseous substance. Out of the incapability of the cylinder leads to fire outbreak and explosion.
Locally made gas cylinder
Original Gas Cylinder
LPG cylinders should be bought from authorized seller.

DO-IT-YOURSELF!!! Cooking Hacks You'll Wish You Knew Sooner (Part 2)
~5.7 mins read
Did you know there are a number of tricks or hacks that can improve your cooking game and make it more fun? Yes, there are! In fact, professional cooks know them and “secretly” use them to save up some time; as a better alternative or just to try out something different. These hacks and many more can also help mitigate the complications that come with cooking, and make cooking more enjoyable. I have made a compilation of some of them, but there are many more you can also check out. Here they are:

Extend the life of your banana by wrapping the stems.

Pull your bananas apart, from the bunch, into single units and cover each stem in a plastic wrap or foil. Ethylene gas is produce naturally by bananas to accelerate the ripening process. Wrapping the stem contains the gas at the stem, thereby reducing the ripening rate, and thereby making your bananas stay “unspoilt” longer.
Mix Pancake batter in a plastic bag to make less of a mess and to save time.
Just as it’s done for cake icing, you can use a zip lock bag or pastry bag for your pancake batter. It will prevent the mess that comes with using a spoon or any other tool to serve your batter on the pan. You can also be creative with it and make some nice shapes.
Freeze banana and use as base for ice cream.
When frozen and then mashed up, bananas can make a perfect base for creamy ice cream. This is far healthier for home-made ice cream.
Speed up ripening in a paper bag
Ethylene gas is responsible for ripening of fruits. The ripening rates of fruits like bananas, avocados, mangoes, apples etc. can be increased by storing them in closed brown paper bag. This traps the gas in the bag, allowing the fruit sugars to mature and break down the acids.
Cut softer foods or flour doughs using a dental floss.
Instead of using knife to do your cutting of foods like doughs or prepared cakes or bread, you can simply use a dental floss, to prevent the mess that may come with using knives.
Bake your fries instead of frying them.
Fries, no doubt, offer a great source of nutritional satiety, but despite that, their preparations may not be so prudent for your overall body health; they sometimes get soaked in the oil, which most times are high in saturated fat. To prevent this unpleasantness, you should bake your fries, instead of frying them in oil. Chop your fries up in your desired shapes, and roast them in the oven with a bit of oil, salt, and maybe some spices, if you want. This ultimately curbs the problem of excess oil and calories.
Dry out herbs in the microwave.
Herbs like thyme, curry, moringa or any other are best dried at controlled temperature. When dried under the sun, like most people do, there are chances the leaves will lose essential nutrients, or even lose their flavours. It is then best to dry them out in the oven, and turning them over at intervals of 20 seconds until they are completely dry, at which point you can then crush them.
Leave your eggs in the fridge for some days for easy peeling.
Fresh eggs can be difficult to peel when boiled compared to days old ones. So buy your eggs in advance, before needing to use them, and leave them to sit in the fridge.
Attract eggshell pieces with eggshells.
If you are whisking your egg or you accidentally dropped some pieces of shell while breaking, getting the pieces out can be annoying, if not time-wasting. The best way through this is to attract the eggshells with another eggshell. The introduced broken half acts like a magnet and easily attracts the errant shell shards.
