#1 HIV AIDS

Men who have sex with men continue to be at increased risk for HIV infection. Safe sex using condoms and non-petroleum-based lubricants has been proven to reduce the risk of both getting and transmitting HIV. Although HIV is now a disease that can be managed, there is still no cure, and preventing infection remains the key to ending the epidemic.

Men who have sex with men should get regular HIV tests and appropriate risk-based counseling about safe sex practices and ways to reduce risk.

#2: Anal Papilloma

Gay men are at high risk for getting the human papilloma virus (HPV), which can cause anal papilloma and certain types of anal cancers. Some men may benefit from a vaccine to prevent HPV from being transmitted. Also, some health professionals recommend routine anal pap smears to screen for cancer. HPV can be treated, but it often comes back, and infections spread easily between sexual partners.

Men who have sex with men should be screened for anal papilloma. Gay men under age 27 should get the HPV vaccine.

#3: Hepatitis Immunization

Gay men are at increased risk for getting hepatitis, a disease of the liver. Hepatitis can cause serious health problems, including liver cancer, cirrhosis, liver failure, and even death. You can be immunized against two of the three most serious hepatitis viruses: A and B, and this is recommended for all gay men. Safe sex, which reduces the risk of transmission of all types of viral hepatitis, is the only way to prevent transmitting hepatitis C.

Men who have sex with men should be immunized against Hepatitis A & B.

#4: Substance Use

Gay men abuse substances at higher rates compared to others. Substances used include amyl nitrates (poppers), amphetamines (including crystal meth), marijuana, ecstasy, and cocaine. Use of these drugs has been linked to higher rates of HIV transmission through impaired decision making during sex. Although the long-term effects are unknown, evidence suggests that prolonged use of these substances is likely to have serious negative health consequences.

Men who have sex with men should be screened for substance use and get appropriate education and risk-based counseling.

#5: Depression and Anxiety

Men who have sex with men have higher rates of depression and anxiety compared to others. These problems are often worse for men who are closeted or don’t have adequate social support. As a result, gay teenagers and young adults have an increased risk of suicide. However, culturally sensitive mental health services can help prevent and treat these problems.

Men who have sex with men should be screened for signs and symptoms of depression and anxiety, and should seek appropriate mental health services as needed.

#6: Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)

Men who have sex with men are at risk for sexually transmitted diseases. These include infections for which there are effective cures (gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis, pubic lice or crabs), as well as those for which treatments are more limited (HIV, hepatitis A, B, or C, human papilloma virus). Safe sex, including the use of condoms, is key to preventing STDs.

Men who have sex with men who are sexually active should be routinely screened for sexually transmitted diseases.

‘’I still can’t believe that you are getting married and having a baby,’’ Sanna, my best friend and bridesmaid excitedly says as she helps zip me into my sleek white wedding dress. I am three months pregnant and the dress is a little too tight around my rounding belly that I can hardly breathe but I will have to endure the tightness of the dress for a few hours. 

‘’Tia, you look absolutely beautiful,’’ she says resting her hand on my shoulder.

 

I stare at myself in the mirror and I get a little teary- eyed. Despite the dress being a little too tight, it perfectly accentuates every beautiful curve I have. ‘’I can’t believe I am getting married,’’ I sniff.

 

‘’I know right, today will be an amazing day but don’t cry, you will spoil your makeup,’’ she hands me a handful of tissue. I fold the tissue under my eyes and carefully wipe the tears off.

While taking photos with Sanna, I suddenly feel nervous, ‘’what if Zyair doesn’t show up?’’

‘’We all know how much Zyair adores you, I have never seen a man more in love with a woman than Zyair is with you. I am sure he is already at the courthouse, pacing back and forth wondering what time you will get there.’’

I smile, ‘’I am sure he is already there, Zyair is time conscious.’’

We sat beside each other as we watched a home video. My heart pounding rapidly as i sat close to him, i could tell deep down within me that i had fallen in love yet again. He simply sat beside me like a log of wood, focusing all his attention to the movie.

“What is wrong with this boy?” i wondered unhappily,

“Doesn’t he seem attracted to me the way i feel feel for him?, i began asking myself questions i cant give answers to.

That fateful day truly was the third time i was spending my afternoon with him, yet he failed to notice my moves, he only acted like he has never developed any iota of feelings for any lady before.

Samuel was an attractive wealthy male, who caught my fancy right from the first day i packed into the new lodge (hostel). Unlike most guys, he kept to himself and behaved like a saint, winning my heart with his godly behaviour. But getting him to reciprocate my good gestures towards him was a very hard task.

His intense behaviour soon began irritating me, forcing me to make up my mind not to visit him again after that fateful Tuesday evening. Because I had my pride to protect, which really was more important than my likeness for him.

Finally by 8pm, the movie ended. I sighed and got up from his chair,

“Good night” i said to him unhappily, but surprisingly, he held my hand strongly and looked up at me with fire in his eyes,

“Please don’t go yet, there is something i wish to tell you” he pleaded. I gazed into his eyes and smiled,

“Finally he is living up to expectation” i reasoned,

“Please sit down” he begged humbly. I rolled my eyes and sat beside him,

“I know you do trust me a lot, that’s why i’m the only guy you always visit, but i can’t help it anymore, i have tried holding back my feelings but i can’t any longer, because it’s killing me silently. I have been dreaming and praying to have someone like you. Please will you grant my request and be my special friend??”, “I have been in love with you from the very first day i saw you” he pleaded nervously with shaking lips. I stared at him coldly even though i was very happy inside.

“I don’t think it will be possible, let’s just be friends” i replied and stood up. He tried to draw my hand, but i snatched it from his grasp,

“Goodnight we will see tomorrow” i murmured, gave him one last look and left for my room.

I rushed to my room, hugged my teddy bear happily, and heaved a sigh of relief.

I was very much delighted.

“At last, hmmmm” I murmured happily, falling asleep and dreaming of good times!

Vin has been in the cell for close to 7 years with no hope of coming out. Upon all the tortures he received from the police he still refused to own up to the crime. He insisted that he doesn't know where Nkechi was. Nkechi's father promised him hell on earth since he doesn't want to open up so that they will know how to get their daughter back even if it was her carcass. 

 Nkechi's mother was hypertensive and so passed out during the search for her daughter. This pained her husband who promised to fish out Vin's family and take them down one after the other.

He carried well his threat because he found Vin's family and butchered them all.

He kept only Vin's sister and molested her daily telling her that she must pay for what her brother did. Angela, Vin's sister wept as she begged Nkechi's father to just end her life straight away instead of punishing her the way he was doing but all these fell on deaf ears.

Hearing that Angela his sister was held captive and that his family has been butchered. Vin wept bitterly and told them that they should release his innocent sister. He told the police to call Nkechi's father for him. When the man came, Vin confessed to killing his daughter and dumping her remains inside the river. When asked why. He said that it was for ritual purpose but he was quite unlucky as nemesis caught up with him. He told him that he regretted his actions and begged for forgiveness. Nkechi's father nearly removed Vin's intestine after the confession. He went and butchered Angela too and angrily locked Vin up in the prison. Few days later, Vin kicked the bucket.

Episode 1

Nkechi looked at herself in the mirror as she turn her behind and shook it. She smiled happily as she gazed at herself. She hailed herself, calling herself praise names. Looking at her skirt she felt that it was too long though it was beneath her knees. She quickly pulled it so as to expose her laps. She nodded happily and wink at herself. She took her purse and left to visit her friend.

     Nkechi met Vin through Facebook and they have been chatting for close to six months and even doing video calls. As time went on, Vin invited her to visit him at his base at Asaba so as to know each other more. So on that Sunday, Nkechi lied to her family that she was going to her classmate's birthday party and left to visit Vin.

She boarded a bus from Anambra and went to Asaba to see Vin. She was quite satisfied with her skimpy dressing because she was sure that Vin will salivate when he sees her. She continued smiling at herself even as other passengers glance at her. It has been six days since Nkechi left home yet she was not yet back. Her family were in the state of disarray as they do not know where to search for Nkechi. They have met the classmate she told them was doing birthday but were disappointed when they learnt that nothing of such happened. Luckily for them Nkechi discussed with Rose her friend about Vin though Rose discouraged her from going but Nkechi refused to heed. It was Rose who disclosed everything to Nkechi's parents. Without wasting time, they traced Vin and apprehended him. At first he denied ever knowing anybody called Nkechi but when they showed him her pictures he immediately recognized her but denied meeting her on that Sunday.

   Vin was manhandled and kept inside the cell but he refused to open up. He continued denying ever meeting Nkechi.

He agreed that he invited her over but told them that Nkechi didn't show up again. Nkechi's parents vowed that it is either he provide their daughter for them or he rot in jail
