ISRAEL VOW TO DESTROY GAZA

AP reports that Israel has claimed to have destroyed Hamas's military infrastructure in northern Gaza, and is now focusing on the south, where it faces a more challenging terrain and a denser population of militants.
According to R.Adm Daniel Hagari, the military spokesman, Israel expects some resistance and rocket fire from the north, but he said that Hamas has lost its command and control structure there, and is reduced to scattered fighters. He said the military has killed more than 8,000 Hamas fighters, but did not provide any proof.
Hagari said the south would require a different approach from the north, where Israel used massive air strikes and ground troops to level entire neighborhoods. He said the military is targeting urban refugee camps that are full of gunmen, and has uncovered an extensive network of tunnels under Khan Younis, a city in the south.
He did not give any details on how the military plans to deal with these threats, but said it was learning from its previous experience. He echoed the statements of Israeli political leaders, who said the fighting will last throughout 2024.
