Starr Andrews makes history as she becomes the first black woman to win a Grand Prix Medal. The 21-year-old figure skater from California became the first Black American figure skater to win an ISU Grand Prix medal.

The award-winning figure skater, Starr Andrews, told Team USA

“I think it’s a huge deal to be a woman of color in figure skating. I’m so proud I could represent. [It makes] bringing home a medal even more special. It’s important, especially with everything that’s going on in the world right now.”

Her words to the US Team caught my attention, to be honest. Truly, it's a huge deal for a woman of colour to represent the community and make a Grand Win at figure skating or anything at all. We, the Beautiful, Handsome, and awesome people of colour are making waves at all levels. We are rewriting our own beautiful narrative which is devoid of slavery, ignorance, poverty, hunger, corruption and every negative thing tagged to us. I am proud of the Grand Win of Starr Andrews 👏💯. Because Of Them We can🙌🤝👌.
