The oxford advanced learners dictionary defines a friend as:

 

A person you know well and like and who is usually not a member of your family.

 

It also defines it as:

A person who has the same or rather similar interest, views and opinions as yourself and will help and support you.

 

Friendship is a close and beautiful relationship which is important to the person's involved.

 

Human beings, naturally crave closeness and a sense of belonging.

 

This is why we keep friends people we can talk to, who will do the small stuff that put smiles on our faces, who can understand and relate when we are facing challenges e.t.c

 

Seeing that this is an important relationship we need to keep the right people.

 

The one's we can lean on their strength and learn from their understanding.

 

The Bible gives us direct guidance and instructions on friendship.

 

1Corinthins 15:33 says "Do not be misled, bad company corrupts good manners.(NIV)

 

The massage version (MGS) says "1 Corinthians 15:33 "But don't fool yourselves. Don't let yourselves be poisoned by this anti-resurrection loose talk. "Bad company ruins good manners."

 

We are warned that bad company corrupts good manners.

 

We should be wise on the people we keep as friends. Bad habits rub off on other person's easier than the good ones.

 

Constantly listening to them use abusive words for instance unconsciously imprints in your mind.

 

 The same goes to what they do and they places they frequent.

 

Friendship is a relationship too important and beautiful to waste on and with the wrong person's.

 

We all need that one person that makes everything easy even the scary things look or seem simple.Who you don't need to construct  grammatical sentences to be understood e.t.c

 

Cherish and treat your friends right.
