Emmanuel Arinze Ifeajuna was a Nigerian army major and high jumper. He was the first Black African to win a gold medal at an international sports event when he won at the 1954 British Empire and Commonwealth Games.

The 1966 Nigerian coup d’etat began on January 15, 1966, when some Nigerian soldiers led by Kaduna Nzeogwu and Emmanuel Ifeajuna killed many politicians, including the Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa; Alhaji Ahmadu Bello; and Chief Ladoke Akintola.

Tafawa Balewa was a Nigerian politician who served as the first and only Prime Minister of Nigeria upon independence. His body was discovered at a roadside near Lagos days after he was ousted from office. Balewa was buried in Bauchi

Honestly, the terrible activities of the IPOB members across the southeast, is really giving me concern. It was alleged that the reason for their agitation was due to marginalization of the Igbos in Nigeria and other national abnormalities. It is not bad for a citizen to express him or herself but demanding for the breakup of the country, is highly unacceptable.

In recent times, the activities of the outlawed Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), is really unbecoming. Their activities is really affecting the economic growth of the the south-east region and that is real bad. For some months now, there have not been normal activities on Mondays, across the south-east region, due to the IPOB sit-at-home order.

A lot of things that should make the IPOB members or its supporters have a rethink have happened, and it baffles me why some of them are stiff-necked in not learning their lessons. It would be a pity if they lose their lives in vain.

Here are some reasons that should make them have a rethink:

1.) The Killing of their commanders– After the killing of their commanders, Late Don Ikonso and Dragon, who had bragged with their charms, I expected every member of the IPOB to sit back and have a rethink on why he or she should endanger their lives. This clearly shows that the Nigerian Security Operatives are well prepared to hunt anyone disrupting the peaceful co-existence of the region.

2.) The arrest of their proscribed leader, Nnamdi Kanu– The arrest of the Abia-born Nigerian, Mr Kanu, should have proven to them that the Nigerian law is not a respecter of person(s). Instead of trying to cause more problems, the best thing is for them to promote unity of the country.

3.) Endangering the live of south-east residents– The IPOB claims to have the interest of the South-east residents at heart but on the contrary, they only succeed in endangering lives of their brothers with their violent activities. The best they way to show that they care for themselves is to promote peace and unity.

4.) Adverse effect of Sit-at-home orders on south-east residents– A lot of people in the south-east, are fed up with all these sit-at-home orders. So many people have been affected, such as students, traders, civil servants, etc. Have you imagined how those who feed by daily hustle survive? Have you thought of how the students are lagging behind even after the last year's covid-19 setback?

All these are things that should make all IPOB members to have a rethink and desist from any form of agitation. One thing they must know is that the Nigerian government is not ready to gamble the unity of this great country with anyone or group. The earlier we understand this, the better so that we don't endanger the lives of innocent citizens.
