President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of a former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammadu Gambo Jimeta.

Gambo Jimeta reportedly died on Thursday evening, January 21, at the age of 83.

A spokesperson for the president, Garba Shehu, in a statement disclosed that Buhari has conveyed his condolences to the family of the late police boss.

The president in the statement described Jimeta as a good police detective and a man of great courage.

He stated that the late ex-IGP was an intellect who served the nation with all his strength.

Buhari described Jimeta’s death as a loss to the nation. He prayed for God to grant the soul of the departed rest.

“May Allah bless his soul and give fortitude to the bereaved family, the government and people of Adamawa State to bear this irreparable loss."
In another news, President Buhari, has reappointed Hadiza Bala Usman for a second term of four years in office as the managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).

The information was revealed in a series of tweets by the federal government on Thursday, January 21.

According to the tweets, Buhari also approved the reconstitution of the organisation's governing board with Emmanuel Olajide Adesoye as the chairman.

Meanwhile, Nigeria's Senate president, Ahmad Lawan, has said the National Assembly under his leadership would not disagree with President Buhari to please anybody.

Nigerian Tribune reports that he made the declaration on Tuesday, January 19, when he received a delegation from Adamawa state who paid him a visit.

Staff of the anti-graft agency were also tasked to be committed to their job and always do what is right and guard against wrongdoing.
