Former Head of Service in Lagos State, Alhaji Rafiu Tinubu is dead.
Tinubu died in Abuja on Wednesday at the age of 75 after a brief illness.

A statement signed by Gboyega Akosile, Chief Press Secretary to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, described Tinubu’s death as a huge loss.

Sanwo-Olu sympathized with Tinubu’s family, the deceased’s friends and associates.

“Alhaji Tinubu’s demise came at a time the nation and Lagos, in particular, needed his wealth of experience the most.

“As experienced administrator per excellence, we certainly will miss the late Alhaji Tinubu’s counsel on matters of importance in the state civil service.”

The governor said the former head of service would be remembered for the “laudable achievements”.

Sanwo-Olu said: “We can’t forget the contributions of late Alhaji Rafiu Tinubu towards the professionalization of Lagos civil service. His quest for excellence and exemplary leadership were a hallmark of his earthly sojourn.

“We sympathise with the Tinubu family, especially our National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, wife and children of the deceased and the entire extended families of the late elder statesman.

“I pray that Almighty Allah grant the late Alhaji Rafiu Tinubu Al-Janah Firdaus and grant members of the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, is in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission responding to allegations of fraud, The PUNCH has learnt.
The spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, told our correspondent that Obasa was invited and he honoured the invitation at the Lagos zone office of the commission on Thursday.
“He was invited, not arrested. He is responding to questions,” Uwujaren said.

The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, is in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission responding to allegations of fraud, The PUNCH has learnt.
The spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, told our correspondent that Obasa was invited and he honoured the invitation at the Lagos zone office of the commission on Thursday.
“He was invited, not arrested. He is responding to questions,” Uwujaren said.
Obasa, who is a two-time Speaker of the House, has been facing several allegations of corruption.
The speaker had some months ago appeared before the House panel of enquiry on the corruption allegations levelled against him. While Obasa denied most of the allegations, he admitted that N80 million as estacode was approved for the training of the wives of 20 lawmakers in Dubai.

“We gave N4m to each of the participants for air tickets, hotels, feedings and local travel. Air ticket to Dubai alone costs about N2m. Some of these allegations were raised for a crusade to get the Speaker out of office.
“The House of Assembly is above common standard of excellence and we have to train people, and this comes at a cost. Learning is not cheap and I have never collected N80m for estacode at a go before,” he said.
