Appeal Court Ruling Halts Hiring Process For 1,000 Police Constables
~0.9 mins read
What looks like hope for the proposed constables who intend working for the Nigerian Police Force is suffering a set back as the Appeal Court in his judgment on Wednesday, rendering the whole process as conducted by the Inspector General of Police, null and void. The Appeal Court in his judgment, as given by the presiding Judge Justice Peter Ige unanimously held that the Inspector General of Police lacks the power to recruit constables.
This judgment was given by a three-man panel set who set aside the judgment delivered by Justice Inyang Ekwo of Abuja Federal High Court, where the Police Service Commission challenge the Inspector General Police powers to recruit of constables.
In a bit for the rule of law to be adhered, the Police Service Commission appealed the verdict of Justice Inyang Ekwo, which lead to the Appeal Court setting aside his judgment, making the recent recruitment of 1000 constables null and void. The Appeal judges said that the recruitment of constables into the Police Force is the exclusive and constitutional right of the Police Service Commission.
what lies the fate of the 1000 constables? kindly like, share and inform friends about the development.
