The Department of State Security and the Lagos State Police Command have denied inviting any entertainer for questioning.Earlier today, a report went viral stating that the DSS and the Lagos State Police Command invited some popular celebrities concerning political statements they made on social media.Some of the celebrities reportedly quizzed by the law enforcement agencies were music producer, Don Jazzy, and singer Tiwa Savage who were said to have been invited to the Lagos office of the DSS for questioning.The report also said that they were later summoned alongside singers Yemi Alade and Waje by Zubairu Muazu who is said to be the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.Muazu is said to have warned the singers to steer clear of political comments so as to avoid the anger of the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).To confirm the veracity of the report, The PUNCH spoke with DSS spokesman, Peter Afunnaya, who refuted it, saying, “We didn’t invite any musician.”The PUNCH also reached out to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Bala Elkana, for further comments about the alleged invitation of the celebrities by the Lagos State Police Command.Elkana said that Zubairu Muazu, who is said to have invited the singers, “ceased being CP more than 10 months ago.”He said, “The present CP is Hakeem Odumosu, who came in November last year.”Continuing, Elkana said, “Zubairu Muazu has even retired from service; he retired as an AIG.”When asked to confirm if the celebrities were invited by the Lagos State Police Command, Elkana said, “I’m not aware of any invitation.”A source in Don Jazzy’s camp who was reached for confirmation said that he was not aware of any DSS invitation.According to him, “Don Jazzy is free. He is not with the DSS. I am not aware of such an incident.”Don Jazzy also took to Twitter with a video apparently in reaction to the report that he was quizzed by the police.“What’s the meaning of quiz o?” he tweeted on Wednesday.

A woman, identified as Mrs. Chiamaka Okechi from Ezeama Mgbagbuowa, Enugu State, has been seriously injured by her abusive husband, Mr. Obinwanne Chiafo.It was gathered that the victim who was forced to marriage at the age of 13 and started giving birth early, has not had it peaceful in her 13-year-old marriage as she has had to endure several forms of violence and abuses from her spouse.According to an NGO, Women Aid Collective (WACOL), Obinwanne had severely battered his wife and forcefully ejected her from their matrimonial home in 2015, including taking custody of six out of their eight children .Although he remarried, he later came back to plead for forgiveness and impregnated her again before abandoning her again. The latest incident was on the 21st August, 2020, when the estranged husband came to her house and unleashed terror on her.“He pounced on me, kicked and punched me very hard all over my body, including several heavy blows that landed on my chest.I screamed as a result of the excruciating pain, but he kept on and brought an iron rod which he used to hit my head, causing me severe head injury. It was at that point that he ran away,” Chiamaka said.The victim went ahead to the Police station at Aguobu Owa, to report the incident but, unfortunately, was asked to bring money which she couldn’t afford.She explained that after the incident, she has been suffering from severe pains on her head and chest and has been passing sleepless nights.She also stated that she is unable to go home for fear that her husband would return to carry out his threat to kill her.She pleaded with the law enforcement agencies to arrest her husband before he kills her.
