Igbo Presidency: Are These The Best 10 Ndigbo Can Put Forward In 2023? (Photos)
~1.2 mins read
2023 may seem too far off but the discussion whether the North will openly accept a power shift to the South is still on the table. If that eventually happens, then many are believing it would only be a fair call for the other regions of Southern Nigeria to cede the Presidency to the Southeast.
Since 1999, the Igbos have been crying for the opportunity to produce a President, and the failure of realising that dream so far has been blamed on marginalization in the scheme of national affairs.
Come 2023, President Muhammadu Buhari will be completing his second tenure as President, and with his ineligibility of contesting, a new face will be taking the seat at Aso Rock and that time might just be the time when an Igbo man, for the first time since 1999, becomes the President of Nigeria.
In this article, we will be looking at ten names from the South East that may want to aim for the Presidency, but the question will be if any are strong enough to command nationwide support to become Nigeria's next president.
1. Peter Obi: He contested as Atiku Abubakar's vice in the last elections, and he is currently one of the possible presidential candidates that Ndigbo can forward for the 2023 presidency.
2. Ike Ekweremadu: The Enugu-born lawyer served in the Senate as the Deputy President for three consecutive senates. The PDP man may not possess that political network that inspires a presidential aura, but he is up on the list of the possible politicians that the South East can put forward.
