A 17-year-old boy, identified simply as Emma, has allegedly been shot dead by a group of bribe-seeking police officers in Benin City, Edo State.

It was gathered that the alleged shooting which occurred on Wednesday afternoon, July 13, also left a friend of the deceased with gunshot injury. 

According to a source, the police opened fir£ on them after Emma, who was billed to leave the country on Sunday, July 17, refused to give them money at a checkpoint.

He was reportedly shot on his stomach and he died on the spot. 

The bullet also hit his friend who was in the car with him.

This is all shades of wrong and very unprofessional, Open fire is only used on criminals when they're trying to escape and the only place you should shoot at is their leg. 

Why opening fire at someone who's trying to reject your force request. 

It's high time the Nigerian Police start operating without guns because they clearly don't know the right time to fire a gun at someone.

John List was a deeply religious, successful American banker. He was also a loving husband and a caring father. 

His home seem to be perfect until things started going awry. 

A stubborn syphilis infection turned his wife into a recluse and in 1971, he lost his job. 

He was emotionally crushed. He spent several days in a train station, trying to figure out how to go home and inform his family that he had lost his job. 

He could no longer provide for them and he couldn't bring himself to imagine how they will now have to endure hardship and lack—something they were not used to. He didn't want to be seen as a father who failed in providing for, and protecting his family. 

List did the unbelievable! 

On November 9, 1971 he sent his children to school as though everything was cool. Then he went back into his home and locked the door. 

He loaded two hand guns. Then went into the kitchen to kill his wife. After that, he shot his mother from behind while she ate breakfast. 

He then called his kids' school and told then the children would be absent in school for some time because the family was going on a trip. Later, the kids came home and List killed them too. 

After killing all of his family, he relocated to another state. He remarried and lived in Colorado for 18 years without the punishment for his atrocities. 

But his sins soon caught up with him. A neighbor recognized him and alerted the police. 

In his confession, List explained why he didn’t kill himself. He said: “It was my belief that if you kill yourself, you won’t go to heaven,” he said. “Hopefully they would go to heaven, and then maybe I would have a chance to later confess my sins to God and get forgiveness.”

List died in prison in 2008.
