The Department of State Service (DSS), has opened up on murdering of seven persons who were alleged to be wedding guests in Imo State.

DSS in its clarification statement in Owerri, Imo State, on Wednesday, 20th July 2022, on how the operatives killed the seven persons, said that the seven persons were alleged members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The DSS operatives insisted that those persons they killed were members of ESN and not wedding guests, said that they engaged in a fierce gun battle with those seven persons who paraded as wedding guests but they were actually members of ESN.

The security agency made this clarification in an official statement made available to journalists in Owerri, Imo State, during the parading of arrested ESN suspect, Chinonso Mmerem, popularly known as "Network". DSS said that following the arrest of notorious Chinonso Mmerem, it carried out a special operation in a camp at Awomama and not at a wedding as claimed and circulated by the youths
