Russia Has Claimed That Its Own Covid-19 Vaccine Is 92% More Effective.
~2.2 mins read
In what comes as a surprise to many people across the world, Russia has claimed that its own COVID-19 vaccine is 92% more effective.
Russia said that its Sputnik V vaccine is 92% effective at protecting people from COVID-19 according to interim trial results.
People believe that the country is trying to keep pace with Western drugmakers in the race for a shot.
Reuters reports that the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), which has been backing its development and marketing it globally, said.
Meanwhile, different reactions have trailed the announcement on social media:
See how this cat 'scared' people away on the road, scratched at their legs (video)
Loft4Words:
"It took them 2 days to come up with the 2% figure higher than Pfizer Rolling on the floor laughing. We can't go just 1% Sergey, that's to obvious, but anything more than 5% seems unlikely."
Tom Talisman:
"Ask 1000 people, including Russians, if they‘d rather have the German-American or the Russian vaccine injected into their bodies. I‘m guessing the result would be rather one-sided."
Curious Chak:
"Oh, come on. Just because Pfizer says theirs was 90%, they say its 92%?"Are these numbers peer-reviewed? Have no doubt about the fact that Russians are capable of cutting edge science. But let's have it out in the open."
Eddy edster:
"Why do they describe it as a battle to beat Western drugmakers - cold war attitude - everyone is trying to develop a vaccine - its not a battle as more than one vaccine can succeed. Everyone is racing but again they make that sound bad. Speed is of the essence."Panic as Juventus finally reveal when they will sell Cristiano Ronaldo (see when)
Amit Patel:
"Oh Vlad. Pfizer announce 90%, let’s got for 92%, not 91% to not make it look made up. That or they probably just stole the same vaccine."
Big Fat Lion:
"Great - so they'll happily volunteer a large batch to be independently tested and benchmarked vs @pfizer's or any others, right?"
