"Oh! So sorry about that, em..here..use this handkerchief, please." Charles(Chief Thomas' son.) said as he handed me a white handkerchief.

 

"Thanks." I said, as I quickly wiped the splash of champagne, off my white dress.

 

"Well, this is my son, Charles, he is a fashion designer and owns one of the biggest Fashion House in Abuja, and he is looking at establishing another one, here in Lagos." Chief Thomas said.

 

"Wow! That's awesome!" I responded. Charles smiled and turned to his father.

 

"Dad, you've already done all the introduction. What else can I say?"  He said and we all laughed.

 

 I noticed Charles' perfect white dentition,, this really complimented his ebony skin. I could only imagine how he was coping with those ladies he had  transactions with, considering his status.

 

"So, I will be inside, let me round up my discussion with Lanre's father." Chief Thomas said, referring to the celebrant's father.

 

"Okay dad." Charles replied as his father left us. Then, Charles just kept staring at me, at some point, there was no conversation going on. I was ready to return to my seat, when the celebrant of the party, Lanre, joined us.

 

   "Hey!I  See you have met each other!" Lanre exclaimed.

 

"Yes.. em.. we have, thanks to my dad." Charles replied.

 

"Great! It's time to dance! Let's join everyone on the dance floor."

 Lanre said, as he held on to my hand, leading me on. Then I noticed, Charles countenance had changed. His smile disappeared.m suddenly. 

 

Lanre had chosen to dance with me while he decided to take his seat, and the entire time Lanre and I danced together, he kept staring at me, few minutes later, he stormed out of the party, like he was angry. 

 

    "Look, your friend, just left." I said, as I drew Lanre's attention. Then Lanre paused for a moment, he glanced at his wristwatch.

 

"Ah han! Why so early?... Well maybe he has an emergency." Lanre said, and held on my hands as we continued dancing. Well, something kept resounding in my mind, that Charles wasn't happy, but I was yet to figure out the reason.
