Taboos In Africa That You Must Never Do

Nigerians have some cultural practices and beliefs of which many of them have gone into extinction due to civilization that has taken over. Nigerians are rich in culture and tradition which varies in different place. People in the olden days believe so much in those taboos and they take it so serious but civilization has almost wiped out everything that people of nowadays now think that those taboos are not real. Taboos in the olden days are use to protect the human individual but there are other reason to their existence. Taboos are mainly taught by elders to protect Individual as a result of their past experiences to make younger ones desist from negative things that can affect them or the whole community. 

These are some of the cultural taboos in Nigeria:

Collecting rain with your hands
People are usually warned not to use their hands to collect water especially children by spreading their hands in the downpour. The elders said that when it is done thunder can strike the person. 

Beating a male child with a broom 
This taboo is common everywhere, the elders do say that when a male child is beaten with a broom, his sexual organ will disappear and the child will not be able to give birth. 

When a Dog or a Cat cries
The aged or the elders do say that when a Dog or a Cat cries, it is a bad omen. They are believe to be closer or have seen a spirit whenever they cry. It is said to believe that death is closer to the relative of the owner but they said that once the animal is killed, the death will be averted. 

Sitting on a mortal 
Whenever someone sit on a mortal, it is believed that thunder might strike especially when it is raining. 

The killing of a Vulture. 
Vulture is a scavenging animal that is not common. The birds feeds on dead animal and therefore should not be killed. It is believed that whosoever kill a Vulture will die. 

Talking while removing chicken feather
Elders do shut children up whenever they are removing chicken feather because they believe that when one is talking while removing chicken feather, the feather increases. 

Though these Taboos are not practiced well like before, because civilization has taken control of everything.

Top 3 Notorious Criminals Nigerians Will Never Forget

There are some notorious criminals that terrorized the country some years back, they kill without conscience and cause violence in the country. Many people were killed, many homes were shattered. Nigeria has its fair share of insecure times when hoodlums and dreaded criminals threatened the lives of citizen. 
Below are 3 notorious criminals that terrorized the country and the people of Nigeria can't forget them. 

1. Anini
Lawrence Anini Nomanyagbon was a Nigeria bandit who threatened and terrorized Benin city in the 1980s along with his sidekick Monday Osunbor.  Anini was recognized as a driver and transporter for gangs and thrives. After he created a gang which they started hijacking cars, bus robbers and thrives. Gradually they extended their act to other towns and cities of Benin. In 1986, Anini gang robbed 12 banks successfully killing 18 civilian and 9 police officers. They were later arrested and hanged death sentence by a firing squad. 

2. Dr. Oyenusi
Doctor Ishola Oyenusi terrorize all of Lagos just after the end of a bloody civil war, Oyenusi was wicked and his arrogance was legendary. Oyenusi was reportedly napped by the police in March 1971 after he organized a robbery in which $28000 was stolen. On the 8th of September 1971, he was arrested. 

3. Shina Rambo
Shina Rambo is a notorious criminal and whenever he goes for an operation, he shoot like a soldier at war, just like Sylvester Stallone (Rambo).  He killed so many people and police men. However there are stories that he later change from his bad ways and he didn't die but some said that the police shot him dead.
