THE YEAR 2020
~1.5 mins read
2020
2020,
A year that we've all anticipated for.
2020,
A year we've looked forward to.
2020
A Year we've hoped to see our vision 2020 fulfilled
2020,
A year that we pant for as a deer longs for water.
First, it was covid-19.
Lockdown held us back, activities came to a stand still.
Sanitize, wear nose mask and social distance, we heard.
Lives we're lost,
Yet we waited patiently for our beloved 2020.
The rape issues came.
Our hearts bled and our tears became blood.
Infants were mutilated and defiled.
Fathers, brothers, Uncles and cousins turned into monsters.
Sisters, Aunties, mothers and toddlers became victims.
But we yet waited for our 2020.
ASUU strike was there,
Six months plus we stayed at home.
Undergraduates roam around the Streets,
Crime increased because we while away time.
Benefits boys were around.
Social vices calls out to the youths.
Yet our vision 2020 we didn't give up on.
Now the #end_sars saga,
It all started like a peaceful protest.
But now lives are lost; Bullets fly in the air
We all lie flat on our stomach to avoid stray bullets.
We don't know if it's the youths in hoodlum clothing or military personnels.
Yet, our 2020 we wait for.
Our dear 2020,
We've experienced a lot this year
Our hearts bleeding, our tears are blood
And our speech fail for lack of words.
But what can we say...
The 2020 we know is better than the 2021 we don't know.
We have hope.
Hope for a better Nigeria,
Hope for Transformation,
Hope for a Reformation,
Hope for Revival,
Hope for Revolution,
Thank You 2020.
